Is a custom 2.5" downpipe worth it?

So I know the AWE exhaust is a 2.5 (thats what their website said at least) and i have the option of getting either 3.0 or 2.5 downpipe....now i'm wondering what benefits would i have to either? Which would be the better one to go

Simple question, is it worth for me to do a custom 2.5" downpipe over the stock one having a testpipe and awe dual tip exhaust? Would the difference be noticeable in terms of power and torque, throttle response or just sound

I have a VMR testpipe and AWE dual tip exhaust on a tiptronic
benefits of 3"- better flow, better throttle response
    2.5"- quieter

whats the diameter of your TP? you should go with that then, you dont wanna go from 2.5 to 3 and then back to 2.5 ya know? keep it constant. there are benefits of a small restriction but usually from the turbo. i have my turbo mounted to the stock cat at 2.5 and then it free flows from 3" gutted cat to 3" dp to 3" exhaust.

    Turbo lag is just foreplay...

I'm running their original dual tip set up with downpipe. I think it's 3" all the way back. It's coming off the car around christmas when i join the B8 crowd. So it'll be up for grabs then and that's the next time i'll actually be under the car to check.

I would say that it is worth it and go with the 2.5 downpipe since your VMR test pipe is 2.5. Stock downpipes are somewhat restrictive. You should by the downpipe from A4B7Quattro.

Being charged $250 for it, want to know if its worth it.
You should experience more torque down low and probably a little more hp up top since less restriction is always good for our small KO3. For best results I would recommand removing the flange between the Testpipe and downpipe to make sure there is no bottle nec there.

If you want to get the maximum results out of the K03, yes I would recommand doing this. In fact you will get more torque/hp with that upgrade than your AWE dowpipe back system costing way more. Do not expect to much of a result though (not like adding a testpipe for instance...)

Shouldn't you just change the whole exhaust instead of the downpipes?!

Done. Custom 3inch testpipe and 3inch downpipe all the way through seems like I have the older awe system since it seems like its 3" all the way thru

I read that a lot of people just change the whole exhaust when running a big turbo setup.
