    Strange Boost Behavior

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Yesterday, I felt the car wasn't pulling as strong, so I watched the boost gauge, and it's not reading as high, but it's not a constant decrease.

Previously, it would hold 19 psi to about 3800 or so RPM, and then slowly decrease.

Now, it holds 13-14 psi at 2800 RPM, and if I give it any more throttle it drops down to 8 psi.

Any ideas what would cause this? There are no CELs.

Boost leak? I would look at your lines first. Cant remember off top of my head but there is an easy check you can do to verify this.

That is an excellent writeup. Having done this recently, mine uses a shrader (bike tire) valve as many people don't have actual air compressors and this way you can use the 12v ones many people do have for filling inner tubes or whatever. Because of that, I used this http://www.prestaflator.com/ to control the pressure going through a lot better.

I thought I'd throw this in there because it also wasn't mentioned. Get a spray bottle, fill it with water, and then put some dish soap in it. Looking for bubbles is way easier than listening or feeling for air.
