Hi all,, my friend has 01.5 s4 avant 6 speed with GIAC chip 93 octane only. its a stage 3 k04 but with 60LB instead of 43LB that AWE want yo to have. his question is:

He is using lemminwinks and set the Primary Tweak to -25% but it is still giving him at WIDE OPEN TRottLe ( WOT) 9.5 AFR. hot to tune it to get it right?

    thank you

Sounds like there is a hardware problem that needs to be investigated first... Boost leak perhaps.

The easiest, safest, and smartest thing to do would be to buy the correct injectors (43s) for the tune he is running (maybe he can find a set used in the classifieds to save some $) and keep the 60s. Once he is ready for his future upgrades he can drop in the 60s and sell the 43s used to recoup some of his money (they should sell fairly quickly as there is usually a need for stage III fueling items). He could also sell his ECU at the same time and buy a stock M-box since he's probably going to need a custom tune if he's going to need 60s.

I told him the same idea and he said that there must be a way to tune the 60lb. has anyone done this before running 60lb on GIAC chip?

There is a way... pay for a custom tune from on of the large tuners - VAST Performance, JHM, etc.

Again the cheapest, easiest, and safest way for him to get his car running correctly is to do what I mentioned above. He can either spend a few hundred on injectors or two to three times that on a custom tune for 60s. His choice.

AS said, of course there is a way to tune for larger injectors. Buy a new tune, or learn how to tune yourself and invest in some hardware and a long road ahead of you. You will not be able lemmi an existing tune for that drastic change in injector size.

And even if Lemmi did work the drivability and safety of the tune would be in question. Part throttle, idle, etc fueling would likely be off which can lead to other problems as well.

yea get the flash out and fix it yourself, go over to nefmoto forums, we can help you out there, its rather simple to tweak injector size, but AWE has that weird maf, but i see no problem since you have a wideband

Injectors are rated at 3 bar. For example, 52# flow 52# at 3 bar, but 60# at 4 bar. So it is roughly 15% increase is flow for 33% increase in pressure. Going from 4 to 5 increases flow more, but I am not sure how much is it exactly.

I don't know what FPR it is running now.... 4 or 5 bar? If 5, get OEM one which is 4 bar. If 4 bar, get 3bar. It should shave off around 15% flow for each bar of pressure drop. Combined with -25% it should land him in reasonable AFRs.

The AWE fueling kit has a weird MAF and 43LB injectors because they didn't tune the MAF scaling or injector size. They found a MAF and injector combination that gave them the ratio they wanted with the stock MAF scaling and injector size. Every other tuner scales the MAF scaling and injector size.

Lemmiwinks can't adjust the fuel injection scale enough to go from 43LB injectors to 60LB injectors. The ECU needs to have the injector scaled changed in the flash. There is a bunch of info on my forum about how to scale your injector size.
For information on ME7 ECU tuning, free ECU flashing tools, and free tunes, check out www.nefmoto.com

Please post in the forum before sending me PMs. I suck at replying.

    You can play with FPR.
