Got the car up on jack stands, pulled all calipers, cleaned them up, painted with G2 as appropriate, replaced lines, put new rotors on, flushed lines completely. Then moved to the exhaust, plan was to install Magnaflow cat back and do the Piggy mod on the pre cats....pulled the stock rear half (OMG no wonder it sucks, it has a built in restriction under the axle shield) then moved to the down pipes....started to really look at all involved and basically said "Screw this I'm beat" and just installed the catback.

Yes, I wussed out, had enough wrenching for one weekend, I must be getting old. (That and having kids really puts a damper in "daddy garage time")

    Notes:
Adam Rotors so far seem to be ok, the rears were made in Germany, the fronts...not sure
G2 paint system is easy as hell to use, I blasted the bits I could and wire brushed the rear piston assembly. (Went with black, sorry posers ;)
Magnaflow System took all of 30 minutes to install, only thing I may change is the support brace between the pipes under the diff, could be about 1/4" wider to make the tips line up perfectly and with the right rotation.

If I did all the wrenching I could handle in a weekend... I'd do some more wrenching.

I hear you on the kids thing - I put new spark plugs in my Jeep this weekend and it took a solid 3 hours. Every other plug was some sort of Dad responsibility . . .

You still had quite a nice install/mod day. Well done.

30 minutes to install the cat back? No welding involved with the Magnaflow? I don't do a lot of my own work on the car (except for sound system/rns-e type stuff) if I had some ramps and normal tools do you think this is possible for someone like me to handle? Would I need an impact wrench? Nothing under there looks too rusted (05 S4 Avant). Little penetrating oil and a socket set would do it?

I think I used a 13mm to pull off the very rear brackets, and a 17mm socket for the connector right behind the cats, squirted with penetrating oil, they were rusty. Used an impact wrench on those, just because I had it handy. The PITA part was the mid mounts, I dicked with them for about 1 minute and said screw it, grabbed my die grinder and just cut through the metal rods. maybe 10 minutes to take it all off. Also, the car was already up in the air since I was doing the brakes.

Putting it on was easy, just lay it all out and start installing from the front, moving back, that part was what took about 30 minutes or so. No welding, just basic tools, air tools are because I was lazy and had them handy.

That being said, I don't fart around

The car pulls much cleaner and harder all the way up the revs, HUGE difference in how it runs, and shifting seems to be a lot silkier, engine revs seems to drop more uniformly now.

Initially, the car seemed about as quiet as stock, but after about 50 miles on them, they are already getting louder, not obnoxious at all, stealthy.

The catback install is realistically an hour. 30 minutes is best-case assuming nothing is seized and you have another person there to assist. By yourself, plan 60+. You will definitely want a can of PB Blaster and a big breaker bar. A torch might come in handy too. Have a friend assist due to the size and weight, and then for adjusting the hangers later.

Yeah, if your a novice type, an hour would be good, and yeah, have a friend. I did it by myself, but i'm a stud. Just ask me.
