That's not even close to totaled... A rear bumper, left rear quarter panel, and tail-light, plus re-alignment of the trunk lid... Not even close... I had more damage than that to my '99 VW Passat (lower value), and it wasn't totaled...

that looks totalled. coulda gotten more damage than u can see. thats not just quarter panel thats fucked the metal internals look to be destroyed also. dont forget our cars are valued as shit now so the adjuster might just total it sadly

im going to be pissed if the total it. Especially because I still owe money on it. The estimated repairs are almost 6k from the body shop.

well seeing that most B5 S4s are not worth much anymore and most insurance companies total the car if the damages are 50% of the cars value, it may be totaled.. hopefully not though

Yea its progressive I'm dealing with, so I've heard they don't typically just total cars. Hopefully anyways. PLus I have no idea what the car is even worth in this condition if I were to sell it after buying it back.

I'd say totaled. Even if it was not I would fight to get it totaled because it wont be worth anything after the repair, and you could pick up a lower mileage one for really cheep. Just take your mods off.

yeah that sucks...too bad most B5s are worth shit cause jackasses dont take care of em and turn them to shit. Yours looks nice though, so it might not be totaled. BTW, nice chip/exhaust setup. Im running exactly the same thing. Gotta love both of em.

see the issue is that I still owe 8k on the car! I just bout it last year, and its in perfect condition besides this rear end. I just had Timing belt and everything done too. It wouldn't change the title if its fixed, so it would still be worth about the same. It only has 83k on it

not to scare you are anything... but sort of the same thing happened to my car. Granted it was a 2000 a4 with 140k on it (20k on built motor). But insurance stopped calculating damage after 9k. However the two rear doors didnt fit right after the crash so the impact was probably more sever than what your s4 went through. Id say you should be ok.

sorry to say it, but count on that happening....
Once their insurance tells you how much they are going to pay out show them proof of any/all receipts for major service, as well as any links you can find for your car with similar mileage for sale and hope the adjuster is in a good mood- if at all possible do it on a friday afternoon ;)

Like hell they don't... I have Progressive, they total cars like it is nobody's business, you almost think they personall want to keep your nice ride. I did some searches after my accident on Honda-Tech (I was a Honda guy before I went euro) and before they came to Jersey they were notorious for lowball totals.

I don't rememebr if I posted this but the guy at the shop told me almost every car he gets from Progressive gets totalled and most of them aren;t that bad, and yours is bad. Your best bet is to take it to a cheap shop in order to keep the estimate low, but then you compromise good work. Lose, lose on that and lose again cuz insurance is a f*cking joke. Good luck, I hope you fare better than I did.

One more thing, the fact that you owe 8k is going to factor against you, they probably will pay it off if you have gap coverage but then they won't sell it back to you for some stupid reason they have in their policy, at least that was the piece of shit move they pulled with me.

Get a good lawyer to just speak with the adjuster/ins co, about a year ago my brother got hit and ran off the road by a dodge ram in his 2003 M3 (the ram driver drove off). Insurance totaled the car and only wanted to give him 23G for the car with 45k miles. A good friend of ours who happens to be a lawyer just gave the insurance company a ring with details of the car (Go ahead and tell them modifications, even though his weren't on the policy progressive still compensated him slightly for them) and similar values to other s4s in YOUR area. After a quick 15 min chat they raised the amount to 26 which he was content with. That wouldn't have covered the price to fix his car but that 3 grand in your case might be enough to not total it. Lawyer didnt charge us anything since were good friends but I cant see that being to expensive for a little bit of work.

people in VT know how to drive in snow.. every winter i go up to vermont and when its a blizzard out they drive pretty damn good compared to CT where there would be accident every 5 seconds lol but since it was the first snow fall over there(which im jealous) people where most likely focusing on the snow more then the road shit happens. sorry to hear OP

this, insurance companies will always try to lowball you, but it is a negotiation so you can counter them

That is the one thing I learned from my experience, GET A LAWYER as soon as they start saying things that you don't agree with.

yea I Hope that they wont total it. It has a lot of time and money into it. Unfortunately Insurance companies don't really take this into consideration. I could always file a claim with my insurance company too because I have full coverage, but then my premium would go up. If hey total it I will definitely be buying it back, or there will definitely be a lawyer involved.
