NEED HELP BIG TIME (recommendations of any kind would be nice)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well... I bought a 1999 Audi A4 b5 2.8 quattro (manual trans) without doing any research in the performance area and now I don't know what to do with it. (Yes I'm a bit of a "noob" at the whole audi tuning thing.) Apparently there are no performance upgrades that will out right give me horsepower so maybe a combination of performance upgrades will give me a good enough amount of horsepower? Getting to the point, I need decent performance combinations and the brands that will help me get there. Any suggestions? Anything would help me at this point...

    Best regards,
    Sean.

all you can really do for more than about an extra 20hp is go to a supercharger. or sell it and buy a 1.8t

But make sure you have a 30 valve 2.8 v6 because i believe they don't make superchargers for the 12 valves. Right?

Maybe i am mistaken between the just the face lift on B5's between pre 99 and after 99.5? I thought maybe the the 30 valves came in 99.5

30v was introduced for the 1998 model year in the US market.

As far as mods, make it sound good and handle good. That's the best you'll do without a supercharger.

Your really that dissapointed with the 30v's performance? I think it has more than enough power.

But short if a supercharger, you won't find any mods that give you power.

Slowly transform it into an S4 then S4 Swap and the rest is already there

The people before me give good advice. Here is an excerpt from the "audizine wiki" for b5...

    "...Modifications-US Version:
Available for the 2.8L is CAI (Cold Air Induction), exhaust systems, ECU chip and suspension upgrades. Another option is super charging of the engine. One reputable super charger manufacturer to go with would be PES, which comes in the form of a the G1 kit (no longer produced) which the blower was side mounted on the right side of the engine or the G2 kit (30V only), which is mounted atop the engine. Another manufacturer is Motodyne. They produce a kit for the 12v V6 with a twin screw blower that sits atop the engine similar to the PES G2 kit. Also available for the 2.8 V6 are ported throttle bodies, ported intake manifolds, large bore MAFs, adjustable FPRs, clutches, headers, MSD ignition modules and nitrous oxide kits. There are several older versions of the 12v V6 (one being AAH) that were used in the previous chassis. The cylinder heads on these engines have larger ports, better camshaft profiles and double valve springs that can be used on the AFC engine to produce more power of standard AFC equipment......"

buy an S4 engine, build the lower end, gather parts for the top end of the 2.8 motor. talk to the guys at EPL about what they've been doing. you'll have yourself a streetable monster.

as far as keeping the same motor, PES supercharger, meth injection and fmic. you can build the motor if you want to run a smaller SC pulley.

Wow thank you all for the advice. I looked at the PES G1 and G2 superchargers and they are just way too expensive (3k+). I also think it would be cheaper to sell it and buy an s4 instead as opposed to converting the a4 into an s4. All things cconsidered i'm thinking maybe i should just try to trade it for a 1.8T.

honestly dude, if you want something decent to MOD , then sell it and get into a 1.8t. WITHOUT a doubt, if you ever want to go crazy, you can.
