    Rear Inner CV Leak question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    See (slightly hazy) pic.

I noticed both rear inner CVs are leaking. The leak is between the metal cap and the CV joint. It is a clear oil but it must be from the CV joint grease. It is definitely not differential oil, and there would be no way for diff oil to get there. The bolts are tight.

Anyone see this before? Does it require taking the CV joint apart or can I seal it with bead of sealant. I am working on the rear suspension so "stuff" is off, but I'd rather not pull the drive shafts and rebuild the CVs. But I imagine eventually it will cause problems if not addessed.

    thanks - Andrew

CV grease is not light colored unless lithium grease is used. And in that case it wouldnt drip or have the same consistency as gear lube. You most likely have 2 leaky rear diff seals. they are easy as hell to fix. just buy two new seals and install them.
