CC problem, and question about dash warning

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
did some C5 A6s come without cruise control? my 2000 4.2 has no cruise, and after driving nearly 40k last year, I'm a little tired of having no way of setting the car's speed.

when I went to change the fuse, I was amazed to find there was no metal inside the fuse box for the fuse to conduct with! just the little plastic slit. I tried bending the prongs on the fuse a little to try and "wedge" it in there, but nothing happened. I find it hard to believe a car with self-leveling lights, and motion sensors wouldn't have cruise control. anyone else heard of this/have this problem? what's the fix?!

on my dash, after drives of at least 2 hours, I get this flashing warning on the LCD screen. it's usually a number, either 0.00", 2.00", or 4.00". I usually just toggle back to the MPGs, but I'm curious as to what it means.

    thanks in advance!

Ive never heard of anything like that with the LCD screen. Most times after driving for a while it will start to flash a time, like 2:00 or 7:00. I have cruise on my 2000 4.2 Left stalk. Are you missing the left stalk at all?

I would suggest to vag com and see if it picks anything up. This is the first I've heard of this. The contacts missing in the fuse holder is a weird occurance as well. Im not sure what module this is withing vag com but its at least a start. No?

There have been a couple of instances where there were what seemed like duplicate fuse positions, so don't let the fuse fool you. My cruise control works perfectly, but there's no indication of it on the dash. Pull the column cover off and check for power at the switch. Also, check for power at the brake light switch and the upper clutch pedal switch, if you've got one. If either of those switches are malfunctioning or out of adjustment, your cruise won't activate.

The cruise control is operated via ECM. The ECM (with the help of a scan tool) can be set up to turn on and off the cruise control funtion. When the ECM information is displayed in the scan tool, a "G" will also show up, which indicates the cruise is active. Check it out

my next step was to test it with a voltmeter. will do that today.

If your cruise isn't working it can be a couple issues:

    Brake light switch
Trans multi function switch in shifter
    ECM uncoded for cruise
    Wiring from stalk to ecm
Switch Stalk ** more than likely

The first two will cause an error either a DTC or lights not working.
