    Audi S5 SEMA 2010

Hey everyone, I am new here but wanted to give you guys the first look at my S5 that I built for my wife. A little about me, I am a car enthusiast who married a woman that puts up with it... I have built several cars that some how end up in magazines and SEMA. I have always built cars that I like and didn't care to much about trends. I never got into the "Rat Rod" stuff but kinda liked it but not my style. I have had many cars that were only appealing to guys who dig Fast, Low and powerful. So I chose to build something for the female enthusiast that likes what I like, fast, low and powerful. I hooked up with a friend Robert Johnson who happens to be a lead Audi tech. We knew that installing a set of big stoppers would be challenging because usually people who are building a "user friendly" street car opt for a half kit (front only) I will explain what I mean later if anyone is interested. Anyhow, my wife has been blessed with being able to drive some very nice cars. (Im the biyach, she makes more loot than I do) Her last car was a Black Seven Series BMW slammed with 22" wheels, Exhaust and some other stuff. We didn't know what to get next. Well the Audi S5 was the choice, something that I wouldn't have thought of unless I had the Seven first. Not to compare apples to oranges but the Audi is much more technological than the BMW by far! She is very happy with the choice and we are ready for the RS5 as soon as it is released.

Very nice! So what did you do for big brakes, and I'm especially interested in what you did for the rears. Does the car have a functioning electric parking brake?

That was the big problem... When I ordered the car I knew that Brembo had a Big Brake kit for the car. What I didn't know is that the E Brake would be deleted if you put the rears on. When I ordered the brakes Brembo made it known that I would not have an E brake. That wasn't a big deal to me because the visual impact and the stopping power of the new brakes out weighed the loss of something that I never use here in So Cal anyhow. So, Robert pulled the rears off and extended the leads for the sensors. We found this beautiful red leather hat box that happens to match the leather interior perfectly on ebay. We stuffed the stock calipers in it with small Audi rotor attached to it in the box. Now the car thinks that it has an emergency brake. No codes or bells sounding. I will post a picture of the hat box LOL it looks bitchen like Audi Luggage.

Not trying to be a dick but I was expecting something really special for SEMA. I think those Lusch grills really take away from this car

Most people who build something and only put on wheels, springs and exhaust tips. Thats what make building cars so cool. everyone has what they interpret as a work of art. I built a truck that was featured at SEMA and picked top ten trucks in America by Truckin' Magazine. Not everyone would agree that it is. However, when we as Audi enthusiasts build stuff that causes others to notice and buy Audi vehicles it helps the market. Aftermarket companies make more products and it becomes a win win for all. Women typically didn't drive performance vehicles that are "daily Drivers" but that has changed. I don't think you are being a dick. I have a buddy that cant hold his tongue also… But "Welcome new member" LOL its all good man.

Nice ride. I will tell you this, I had the same Lusch set up and they kept falling apart. I eventually said hell with it and put the stock grille and fogs back on. Look great, but are not very good products.

I was thinking the same exact thing. When it said not like any other, and then I looked and it looked like a lot of others.

My understanding is that no parking brake makes the car illegal for the street. For example, here's CA's requirement for parking brakes: http://law.justia.com/california/cod...0-26458.5.html

Hence companies that sell rear brake kits for this car always say "for off road use only." I really wish someone would make a replacement multi-pot caliper that has the e-brake function for Audi.
