    Fuel Filter

I have about 56k miles on the pup so far, and I dont think the previous owner ever changed the fuel filter. I know I havent, so that leaves me with the old factory fuel filter.
Im not sure what mileage is recommended to change the fuel filter. I looked in the maintanece book, but wasnt successful.
I did a search on here, but something is wrong with my browser since it isnt loading properly...
Should I expect a noticable difference? also this might be a dumb question, but can someone point me to the DIY on how to change/install one?
    thanks!

    Its a lifetime filter.

Audi says its good to just leave it until your fuel pump blows then do both.

Well I changed mine around the mileage he is at. But the OP wanted to know what is "recommend". I do lots of service that Audi apparently thinks is a waste of my money.

    Its a conspiracy.
they probably want you to ignore the little things that will save you from repairing the bigger things. Hence where they come in...
for example, a fuel pump repair will yield them much more income, then a little fuel filter sale.

some other things might sound rediculous like change oil at 10k miles regardless of how cold or hot climate your driving in...
    or Lifetime transmission oil

or no blinker fluid ;-) lol

Don't forget the fact that the bastards never told you about your muffler bearings at all hey?

lol. I guess thats enough of being an asshole. Time for your spoon feeding WhatADream. But I'm serious when I tell you this, you have to promise to start all your dumb ass threads over here. You can only read on the other site I'm about to tell you about.

I did a DIY for the fuel filter on these cars a while ago. Its posted over on EA. (check my garage for the sites full name if you don't know what I'm talking about)

Meh, cheap insurance. Unless you're running lots of crappy gas on a regular basis, I would bet it's very clean inside. If you're feeling ambitious, change it. I will say this...I changed mine at about 52k; cut it open and it was spotless inside. Oh well.

Im in California. I believe all the gas is dirty piss contaminated with sand and gravel. Maybe surgar to sweeten it up too... lol
You might be right, it all depends on if your lucky enough to get the last drops of gas from the gas pump that sucks up the dirt with it...

Mine wasn't... Quite a bit of black shit came out when I flushed it out.

LOL. My point is that if you use 91+ octane and it's from reputable stations, your filter is probably clean. It's when you go for the cheap gas stations that you *might* have an issue.

It's $40 for a filter and <1 hr of time, might as well do it for peace of mind. Cut yours open and post a photo for us.
