Can this really do what the description says it can do? Seems way to good to be true.

That's just the interface cable...You'd still have to buy the VCDS license from ross-tech for $100. Ebay cables should work the same and cost 1/2 as much

I'll tell you it's probably the best $25 you'll spend, great deal. And It does probably do more or less what they advertise, but it DOES NOT do all the things an authentic VCDS cable does. It will likely NOT allow for very much adaptation of modules of any kind. A real Ross Tech cable is the best $250 you can spend.
Why would Ross Tech build and give away software that makes their hardware totally unnecessary? The Ebay cable and free VCDS software is just enough to get you hooked and curious about what a real VCDS set can do... worth the $25 though.

I use a 10.00 Ebay cable with a licensed version of Vag Com from RossTech and I adapt, read/clear error codes. So yes, you can have a shatty cable and still do more than enough if you have the licensed version of the software. The only limitation with the freeware version is that you cant adapt anything... and have less than full functionality of the program.
