    Bent wheel causing vibration?

I dropped my car off for the 15k service and mentioned the highway speed vibration i'd been getting. after a little convincing i got them to road force balance for free, and the guy said two of the stock 17" rims were "slightly" out of true, so they put them both in the back. Now when i jump on the highway, the steering wheel doesn't shake anymore, but the rest of the car does at certain speeds. i guess that rules out the control arms.. i've driven on bent rims in other cars and never had any problem like this before, so im not sure what to expect in terms of effects.. he mentioned straightening, but id rather spend the money on nicer wheels. ballpark for straightening a wheel?

I had a set of 19s that had some bent wheels and definitely had vibration. A slight bend will cause the wheel to wobble while you're driving which is what gives you that vibration feeling in the car.

Stock wheels pop up in the classifieds all the time if you want to replace them. Depending on how badly bent they are, of course.

60 bucks for straightening & refinishing? That seems REALLY low including refinishing....i've seen twice or more per wheel.
My other home is an AIRSTREAM.

Sometimes what is diagnosed as a bent wheel is a defective tire. Two of my OEM Pirelli P6's were out of round. When I finally got rid of them for a set of Continental DWS's all vibrations completely disappeared. What tires do you have?

I had a dealer tell me that 2 of the wheels were bent and when another dealer checked they weren't. I would get a second opinion.

i currently have the stock Goodyear LS2's. i'll be throwing on some blizzaks in the coming weeks, so that should rule out the tires. this went from being an intermittent thing on the highway to now happening every time i hit certain speeds, so i have a feeling it probably is the wheels. i also have the h&r sway in the back, so if there is vibration in the wheels i guess that would probably make it more pronounced. i've had a few hard hits to the wheels, but nothing i thought would actually bend them..

Yes the bent wheels can cause vibrations. In my previous car two rims were bent. The car vibrated really badly at 70+ MPH.
