Your RPMs at 80MPH? Am I imagining things?

Howdy all - What are your RPMs at when cruising at 80MPH?

I'm at about 2.5K right now. Does that sound right? Had an interesting situation last night - when WOT, turbo seemed to spool but failed to deliver that whump/burst of power (uh-oh, right?). I've haven't had the nerve to do it again, but I am noticing (I think?) my RPM's seem high at 70-80. Does 2.5K seem right for 80MPH? It seems to hold there when I let off the throttle, too. Am I imagining things? I have a chipped A4 2.0 QT tip. Thanks and peace.

That's pretty normal to be anywhere from 2.5-3.0k at 80mph, now for the failed turbo delivery I'm not sure but I don't think it's normal.

    i do around 2500 RPM @ 80 MPH with my b7

The loaner A3 I have now does 3200 RPM @ 80 MPH. Interesting knowing it has the same engine.

Yeah, about 2500 RPM at 80 MPH in 6th gear is about right for me too.

A lot of people think you want to race, when in reality, you just have to motor home because Chipotle.

Sure, but it takes a second or two to gather speed. I know what he's saying. If I'm in heavier traffic where I'll want to be able to bust a move quickly, I'll stay in 5th as well.

actually no, a matter of 400 RPMS or so is not going to make or break or gas mileage. My k04 1.8t jetta only had a 5 speed and was around 3100 RPMS in 5th...i didnt have a choice and still got around 28 MPG on the highway

i think if im understanding it right, i had a similar problem and it was the intake motor flap that went bad. had it covered under warranty.

sounds normal.. my A4 did that, too.. and why don't you just rev match downshift to 3rd or 4th (depending on speed) when you need to pass quick?

Yeah I can pass easily in 6th, way easier in 5th, and just take off in 4th. Not sure what the issue is here..
