Damnit, NickS gave me the mod bug.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Somehow or another I've ended up being the only stock car in our little group of people...Nick has been taunting me and after riding along in his S4 yesterday I had to bite the bullet and order SOMETHING. I blew my wad on a new DLSR and the Germany trip so I have to kinda start small but I ordered the Strat intake and the short shifter. More goodies soon? Who knows... once it starts, it never stops :)

    Yes...Cool story, bro!

Oh come on now, one can never truly shake the mod bug. Once you've caught it, it can flare up at any time.

Wow! After our episode on GM(won't say what I think it stands for :) ) I didn't think we would ever agree on anything! LOL

Seriously though.... you will love the exhaust it really makes the car sound nice and based on results adds some power! Couldn't agree more about your comments on John.... Top notch all around!

Now you just need the 100 octane tune :) Can't find many places in Houston to purchase though.... LOL Fortunately, for me there are several stations that sell it at the pump! Now only if I had a mineshaft to run some times in like you folks in Houston do! Bastards..... 38 ft above sea leve FTW.... Someone really needs to beat my times with a 6-speed car.... I need motivation for the winter.... LOL!

I highy recommend the H&R rear swaybar. It makes the handling perfect IMO. I changed nothing but simply added the rear bar. Totally changes the car. Skip those kits that require you to buy the front bar... it's a waste of money.

Sage advice, I am in for brakes here this week, I'll likely be doing the rear sway soon to augment my Sport Diff by reducing body roll.

So the Stratmosphere Hyperflow showed up today along with the short shifter :D My friend Carl and I were hanging out doing the male bonding thing and figured that installing car parts would be a good way to achieve that. Having installed intakes on other Audis in the past, we were skeptical of the 10 minute install claim by Stratmosphere since they have all been an absolute PAIN in the past. It was a pleasant surprise that we had the whole thing done in 15 minutes with the sun going down. It was a BREEZE :) I'm going to get some sound clips up tomorrow but man, I love the way it sounds. I realize it's not for everyone but with the windows up and air on it's not intrusive AT ALL. More impressions tomorrow but here's a few installed pics. Need to clean up the zip tie just to satisfy my OCD but it's a VERY clean looking kit.

    Ron,

Exhaust will be here tomorrow and with a little bit of luck will also be installed tomorrow. Can't freaking wait.

    Nick,

I know, had a bunch to do before and after the intake so we got it on the car. Next step as I mentioned is just cleaning up the install a bit.

Now I have the mod bugg - all because of this forum. Being a motorcycle guy I never sought out more perfromance from my daily drivers because no matter what I do/did it would feel slow compared to my motorbikes. I've only done an exhaust and short-shifter so far but I like the results. It adds to the over-all experience. That being said, yesterday I rode a friends new BMW S1000RR and for 16k-bucks I doubt there is a road car on the planet that could stay with this thing up to 150 mph. So if it is speed, or the rush you get from mind-blowing acceleration, that you are after there are a lot cheaper ways to go about it. But I do love my S4

The Milltek Non-Resonated exhaust finally made it's way onto the car (Finally as in it got installed the same day I got it but we started at 7pm :) ) Special thanks to John/Bob/Greg at Stratmosphere for getting the exhaust to me in time for tomorrow! Also a very special thanks to Curt, Chris & Tony at Tracktime Performance here in Houston for staying late and helping me get it done after hours.

First off, the kit is very well put together. All the parts are machined well, and went together perfectly. Total time from start to finish on the exhaust was an hour and 15 minutes, including some time to make adjustments. Obviously it'll have to be tweaked a bit once it heat cycles a few times but there wasn't much that had to be done to get the exhaust fitting exactly the way I wanted it to. The hardest part of the entire install was getting the top nut off the factory downpipes. The rest was absolute cake.

Sound wise, I'm LOVING it. A nice throaty growl that isn't too obnoxious or intrusive on the inside. Can't wait to record some video tomorrow of it in action. I know it'll take a while to fully open up but I really really am happy with the sound. I'll say this, no video I've seen so far online does this exhaust ANY justice when it comes to sound. If you like it on the video, you'll love it more in person.

    Tomorrow, we play :)

Nice! You got the black tips?

I assumed all the non-res systems came with the black oval tips however I got chrome with mine.

    Was wondering about that...

Both Black and Chrome are available for the system- if you want the black ones, Waxxon, just give me a call. Easy swap.

Zerin, awesome to see it all get together. You install the shifter too? Sounds like you're going to have a pretty sweet weekend.
