allroad, offroad?

Been wondering how good these allroads are in the sticky stuff. I've searched YouTube but haven't found a great deal of vids, nothing challenging anyway & also googled it but not a lot of info on their off road capabilities. I'm part of a 4x4 group here in the UK who go out on a regular basis driving our green lanes, mainly in Land Rover/ Range Rovers but my Range Rover classic has been off the road for the last two years & I've been missing the action. Now the lanes we drive are not that bad & if they are we don't drive them due to the politics of green laning here in the UK. That's not to say that half way down one you won't find a challenging bit that might make your vehicle work a little harder.

I'm wondering wether to take the allroad on one of these trips but like I said, you can't guarantee that you won't reach a part of a lane that might be a bit tricky & don't want to get it stuck or damaged. I'm also curious to see how well the allroad does in an off road situation. From what I've read they have the same ground clearance on the highest setting (208mm) as a Land Rover Discovery series 2 & with the quattro system & the EDL etc should in theory be as capable as a Discovery or latest Freelander. The later Range Rover/Discovery 3 for example use a complex system of electronics to get it through any tough off road situations even on road tyres so can't see the allroad being that much different.

Anybody got any real experience with these vehicles off road or any vids/pics that are not easily found on the net?

I pulled a F-150 out of a sand pit a few weeks ago. wish i had video of it..... This car is a champ off road. i have had no problem doing a little playing in the country side.

LOL These are the ones I posted (Post #2) Cause as soon as I read the thread, your vids/channel popped into my head.

I enjoy watching them over and over again. It's one of the main reasons why I chose to get an AR as well.

(Off-topic, but..) that's one video that has probably been posted on every single AWD thread across the interwebs - or at least in those where Quattro was in discussion.
I want to see an updated video this winter pitting Quattro against all the newer AWD systems. (And no, the one posted by Acura doesn't count for the sheer amount of bias and trickery in it) ;)

Well I took it down some easy lanes by me but nothing really to test it's abilities. I mentioned it to the guys who I go out with & they were not interested in the slightest about me coming out green laning with them in the allroad.

sounds like the response one would expect from guys with suv's
if your real careful, take the trail slow, and pick your lines good, you shouldn't have any problems
a friend of mine has some video from earlier this summer when i took the ar up some stuff that was rockier than the videos a few posts up
i will/can post those once i get the files from him

I half expected that sort of response but thought at least one of them would say yer come along have a go, see how it performs..................but no!

Be good to see those vids your talking about, I'm thinking of making some of my own with it when I get the chance. There isn't enough out there of the allroad in the sticky stuff, be good if more people took a camcorder along with them while having a little play for us all to see.

Well when it snows and they are stuck on the side of the road and you are passing them by make sure they remember what they said to you. I hate SUV owners with that frame of mind
