    New A4 3.2 Owner

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What's up guys, I am a brand new 2009 A4 3.2 quattro owner. I just picked up the car last night. It is black on black. It was a left over so i got a great deal on it. I do have a couple of questions on it if you can help out.

    1. how come when i push the heated seat button, the whole vent system comes on. Is there a way to just push the heated seat button and that be the only thing that comes on?

    2. What is the best CAI for this car? I don't want anything that sounds childish. I am looking for an agressive sound.

    3. What is the process for changing out the fogs for HID fogs? And how much would a set be?

Thanks guys, look forward to talking and learning about the car.

    Mike

1.) Your heated seats should be completely seperate from the climatronic functionality. (I think) The buttons may be screwed up.

2.) Sorry, no CAI for the 3.2 B8.

3.)I know some have tried, but not sure of any success stories yet of a true HID fog conversion. You can however get basic xenon color matched H11 incandescent bulbs for $29 form Hoen.

Thanks for the heads up, i will call the dealership and see what they say about the seats. No CAI, wow that kinda sucks for now. For the fogs have you seen the bulbs you suggested installed? If so how do they look?

The xenonmatch fogs are good from what I've seen... I believe MiracleWhips uses them too...

    I have them installed.

For $29, they are 1,000 times better than the stock bulbs. The match is very close.

This is a pic of A4Ber's old ride.

But because they are like any "fake" HID bulb where the glass is tinted blue to get the white effect, you get a little bit of this action reflecting in the housings. But it is not visible from most angles.

I also just purchased a 09 3.2 a few days ago and was wondering the same thing about the heated seats and vent system coming on since it keeps happening to me. So if you find out what the deal is let me know!

You can turn off the ventilation system, the heated seats will continue to work. It's sort of a hassle, but I got used to it.

Same - If I have both the seats and A/C on, I have to remember to turn the seats off if I hit off on the A/C (just learned that last week when my bum was getting warm :P).

I have the Hoen lights as well - very easy/cheap mod and looks far better compared to the LEDs (imo).

I called the dealership they said bring it in, i have an appointmetn next week. but it seems to be the normal thing.

Got the 09' left over with 270 miles on it, with the certified pre-owned warranty for $36k. Its black on black and i just got it tinted with 3m film 20%

a few people have run the endurance... its more of a personal preference thing... the yellows do work better in fog for sure.

I've always been wondering if the A5 3.2L catbacks will fit.

This is the closest answer that I've found:

I emailed AWE re same question, as the A5 and A4 are both listed as 'B8' for our 3.2L. They told me they hadn't had an A4 3.2L available for fitting and thus in no way could assure mod-free fitment of the A5 3.2L system to A4
They did offer my driving from CA to PA to be the test horse...I declined.
Ended up installing Remus mufflers two weeks ago
    Cheers
Just looked at your Bastuck link. Without Google translating, their site appears to state that 3.2L A5 system will fit 3.2L A4,
with their valence - OEM/ Votex valences? should, as their tips (single left/right) are only 4-5 mm larger than OEM 3.2L stainless tips.
    Cheers

I have them, but only for about a week so far so I haven't had the chance to use them in fog yet. They aren't as powerful as the stock bulbs, but I'm hoping they will perform better in fog.

I run 3000K HID in my fogs. I did have to get the error correction piece to run 35 watt ballasts. No issues so far. Purchased from DDM Tuning The install is plug and play, it can be done by removing the fog light grill. All you need is Velcro. For a factory fit, I purchased H11 male connectors from here This is not included with the HID kit. You can use electrical tape to secure the HID wires to the factory harness if you don't care. I prefer to go the extra step.

Yeah, the Bastuck part numbers are the same for the A4 and A5. It looks like the OEM valence will work with the dual single outlets. Their valence is for quad tips. But an S4 valence would probably work too. The Bastuck site has an English side if you click of the British flag. I have to say CA is closer to PA than HI by atleast 2300 miles

Interesting. Suggests that the AWE A5 3.2L catback system will fit our ride
Posts here say Bastuck system is on the loud side, don't know personally.
There's another recent thread here re A4 3.2L claiming that Remus now has a catback system for A4 3.2L.
    Cheers
