The high-flow cat section will not throw a CEL, so any state that tests just via OBD2 will pass for sure. Yes, the full system is 3" including the cat section.

Unfortunately I don't have video of this system yet.. but here is something to kind of baseline it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG6aj7MZ6a8. Fast forward to 2:20 to the single side part, that's cat-back only. With the high-flow cat section it will be slightly louder and a bit throatier, with the test-pipe it will be noticeably louder / more aggressive.

Would only the high flow cat sound as loud as the full exhaust and is it compatible to APR stageII?. I don't want the full exhaust or the louder noise, I just need the hardware for APR stage II upgrade

That exhaust was built on my car (the 2.0T I had) in December. It does throw the CEL with hi- flo cat. There was a lot of drone around 3000 but sounded good otherwise. A bit louder at highway speeds. Got a lot of compliments on it even when pulling into the Audi dealer.

Awesome! Thanks for being the prototype car, and thanks for the feedback! Did you have any software in the car?? I know APR's programming will get rid of that CEL for the high-flow cat.

Thanks man, I am not really a fan of the APR single sided either.

The only thing I could do at the time was reset the CEL with the VAG-COM. The APR flash was still in beta testing and never took to my ECU. I got rid of the car a bit later the dealer took it as is with the exhaust. The exhaust with the APR K04 should be real nice.

Has anyone installed this on an S5? I've been wondering how people like them, it could be a nice alternative to the drive select. It would be even more kickass if you could get it to work with the existing controls on a rear diff equipped car.

I had an aftermarket muffler system put on my 1999 A4 and it never meshed correctly with my O2 sensors. Eventually my check engine light came on and stayed on... How much testing has been done to ensure that won't be the case? Seems like this is a new product your looking to market!

A muffler should never effect an O2 sensor, only the catalytic converters will. With this cat-back system, and for that matter any cat-back system, no CEL will ever come on. Guaranteed. The test-pipe / high-flow cat section on the other hand, if you have the test-pipe version WITHOUT any performance software you will definitely get a CEL. With the high-flow cat version, you should not get a CEL but its not 100% guaranteed. However, if you have software (eg. APR), it is guaranteed no CEL.
