    Title is pretty self explanatory...looking for the P/N for the rear view mirror to fit a B7 with the Ti package - basically to get a black rear view.

    Thanks guys!

    Here are the part numbers for the mirrors from the dealer I work at;
    8D0-857-511 A 4PK $159.60 - Mirror w/o compass & auto-dimming

    8R0-857-511 A 4PK $729.75 - Mirror w/ compass & auto-dimming

    Hope that helps you out. If needed I can see if I can get it @ employee cost which is Cost + 10%.

    Thanks!!

    Edit: I'm sure this is ok, but ECS says "Up to VIN #1-003200, split is in model year 2001. Only fits Coupes" Still going to be ok for my B7 Sedan?

    I disassembled mine, plasti-dip sprayed, and put it all back - black rearview! I'll post pics later when I can (I'm at work).

    I used vinyl dye paint previously, but I need to get more and re-do this..

    Make sure you do enough coats (I only did one, but they said 3-4 is ideal).. otherwise it may scratch too easily.

    I did vinyl spray dye last time, and it worked like a charm. Hardest part is disassembly, but definitely worth it compared to taping off everything. If you have a thick guitar pick, or those cell phone opening tools, they'll work like a charm.

    The face (where the mirror itself is) clips into the rear part, so wedge whatever you're using into at the seam wherever you think will be least noticeable - in case you end up scuffing it a little - and apply pressure at an angle like I drew below. Be very careful working your way in and taking it apart or a few will break. I'll take pics next time I open her up.

    In regards to removing the mirror from the windshield...do you think this sounds about right?

    Yeah, that's about right. Use constant pressure and grip the base (not the mirror!) near the windshield, and turn it counter clockwise. You'll feel it give a bit, and once it's turned about 50 degrees, it'll feel loose, and it will just pull free. You can then disconnect the harness for auto-dim, and remove the mirror!

    You can remove the base (the part that looks like Dark Helmet's helmet) from the mirror assembly, it's just a plastic cover. Once the mirror is apart from the windshield, pull out on the edges of that base cover and push it away from the mirror base with even pressure. It slips right off - you can look inside and see the clips, just be careful not to break them. I'll post pics of all this, and a DIY, next time I take it all apart.
