not sure what the exact weight is with the lightweight flywheel/twin disc fx850 compared to the stock flywheel and RS4 pp, but here is a quick video just showing how fast it revs up, dont have a vid of the OEM setup, but i do know its quite a bit faster than stock..

I miss how quickly my SPEC LWFW revved. Went back to stock FW with my new clutch.

The OEM FW was already mated with the clutch that went in so I didn't have much of a choice.

okay, so finally get her back together, as im driving around trying to compile "500" miles, i hear this noise when lugging below 1800 rpm.. as soon as i hit that rpm, the noise goes away. IDK if its just the way a lwfw sounds, or if thats the sound of the clutch breaking in or what, but its definitely different than the car was with the old setup..

and i could just be worried since the car hasnt run right for a while with the clutch going out a few months ago, and i just need to drive it a bit. it seems like i get spidey sense when i do a big job on my car and i notice/exaggerate EVERY LITTLE NOISE OR NUANCE that i hear..
    and then

sounds kinda like grinding or vibration coming from the flywheel area...

.. and i dont even know if you can hear anything with those vids.. after i saved them they sounded un-recognizable as far as the sounds.. oh well..

btw.. rev matching is a breeze. and i barely push on the pedal and the clutch is disengaged. i will say that ive killed it 4 times already leaving from a stop in 1st gear..lol..

If it sounds like a diesel engine at low RPM's then yes it is your LWFW. I have a LWFW and under load at low rpm's there is what they call "chatter". Couldn't really tell from the videos the exact noise.

tough to judge from the vids but like somebody said above, there will be LWFW chatter around 1800rpm. I had the same with my SB setup. Expecting something similar with my CM850. Why dont you drive over in the name of clutch break in so I can get a better listen.

If you get there kevlar sprung disc and solid ceramic disc fx850 combo you will get no brake chatter whatsoever.

i have the sprund cerametalic disc and unsprung kevlar.

i hope it is just that, chatter, cause up till 1800 it sounds just like a diesel I didnt know if the noise would subside a little as the clutch got broken in or what. past 1800 its just as quiet as a stock setup.

i just go nuts after a big job and want to make sure im not breaking any 2500 items.. LOL..

    thanks..

ps.. mike, i guess if i took all the back roads up there, id break it in 3 times by the time i get there...we can go ahead and set up a track date..

oh, and when i filled the trans with fluid, the way it was sitting, it took 2.6 litres to fill it. now when i have it on the rack changing the oil, i checked the fluid, super clean but a little wants to spill out the top. just a little. so whats the opinion, best if put down to the fill hole level or a little over is no big deal?? i know theoretically, more fluid means more drag, more friction and so the car may not spin out as fast??? maybe?? and i filled it with motul 300 trans fluid. someone told me that swepco was just as good or better than that.. i havent heard much of swepco, and im not draining out my brand new motul, but whats the overall opinion on it??

    scotty where are you..lol..

I've always been told that its an absolute must to fill with the car 100% level so as to not overfill. Its hearsay as far as I know.

Good choice on the Motul, I'll be swapping my redline out before too much longer and replacing with Motul (hearing Scotty mention that its better than Redline over and over and over has finally changed my mind)

Well, you should theoretically fill it up to the fill hole level and then evacuate some so that the level is about 1mm below the fill hole... but then that's splitting hair imho.

And the chatter. It will mostly go away once you break in the clutch but will never completely be gone. I have fidanza and sprung ceramic and it is there but not very noticeable.

The chatter on my AWE LWFW for my VW never went away, but it never really bothered me. At least not more than the ridiculous squeal I got because the shop didn't install the TOB that came with my new clutch, but that's neither here nor there.

Damn that revs up and down quick! Jealous!

It seems similar to fidanza LWFW, my engine revs up and down like a 1.6 4 banger or quicker :)

Bentley manual says 7mm, plus or minus 1mm below the fill hole. 01E's are VERY sensitive to overfilling, so I'd go with that.

My new Southbend stage 3 endurance definitely chattered with the new steel LWFW. Got significantly better at 1000 miles. Still makes some noise if you shift into second too soon and chug it. I have decided that you really need to learn to drive it all over again. By the way so jealous of the new setup. Mikes pics are great, that clutch is a beauty...

i really appreciate all of the responses guys, especially with those running a lightweight flywheel that know exactly what im talking about. IDK, you just do another big job with a lot of expensive parts, and especially after adams tilton pretty much just disintegrated, i really began to worry about the noise. its a little nerve racking, and its so different from what you are used to in an Audi S4.. i just hope that everything was installed correctly, and thats funny, cause every other time ive ever installed a clutch , whether in my car or a customers car, it either worked or didnt. so im sure its all good, i just have to get used to it or hope that it quiets down a bit..

in the mean time, im gonna pm jason @ AMD so i can get all of my questions answered. he seems like hes honest about results and hell, hes put in enough of them to know all of the characteristics of this setup..

When I installed an 11lb flywheel on my old turbo 240, it was the same thing.

It made some real weird chattering noises at first from time to time. Especially when cold or first starting up etc. Kinda freaked me out (it was installed at a professional transmission shop). Then it all quieted down to "regular" chatter levels...you know, the kind where you hear a rattling noise reflecting off the wall when picking up drive-thru food...

BTW, that is some real nice rev-up for the S4, wow!
