I literally lol'd when I read this. I don't have any issues and have been under warranty which expires soon so I haven't really looked deep into this as far as parts list and costs go. What I do know is every stinkin' time this topic comes up I see ballpark prices that go up and up and up. Having not looked into it too seriously my first thought was that these parts were all made of unobtanium and getting harder to source by the day. My second thought was that this was an internet tall tale that was growing by the week and now that someone posts part numbers with prices I'm left to believe that it was the latter of the two. No more restless nights for me hoping that I get the CEL for this issue before the warranty is up because $500 isn't that bad. I mean, it's not pocket change but it's still a far cry from waking up one morning w/o a car and realizing you're out $2k+ as some here would have you believe.

There are 2 prices, dealer prices which equel out to be about 1500 to 2000 and the other is you source your own parts and do the work yourself for about 600 plain and simple!

SECOND UPDATE 10/20/2010 I got everything replaced under warranty. The dealer was not easy to deal with, but after all I could not be happier I got everything fixed. And above all the tech found the missing piece. Thanks again to all for the info you guys gave me, special thanks to vannyhuj for his emails.

I really think everyone should have the cam follower checked EVEN IF NOTHING SEEMS WRONG. That was my case, the car was driving perfect and look at that:

The price you are referring to ($800-1,100) involves replacing the hpfp and cam along with follower. You just replaced the follower and hpfp seal.

^ booo dealers. The one I got my car from charges $115/hr

I plan on doing my own oil changes but I called around 2 Audi dealers for quotes just for fun. One place charges $150 & the other charges $75. Both of them are obv using synthetic but I was surprised by the price difference…

I hate my dealer cause they charge so much for parts I want to order and they won;t shipe them to me. Do you guys know a dealer in jersey that ship the parts to you? I always have to drive 40 miles when I need a f##$ing screw or something.

I don't mind waiting at all. It seems I cannot find things easy enough on that website or maybe it's just me. I would love to find a good website for parts. For example I'm trying to buy the N80 valve when I put this part number 06E 906 517 A found in this thread

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-when-in-D-etc

this is what I get. Is this the right part?

I like ECS cause they have things pretty good organized but their shipping it's ridiculous. (at least $12 for the smallest thing there - except the free shipping items)

Thanks all for the responses. I'll buy from ECS I guess

I realized that if you buy a free shipping item you get the free shipping for the second one you buy, even if it has no free shipping. Probably if they're close in size.

I just talked to somebody at ECS they said that part is for VW 2.0T it would not work with our cars. I'm a bit confused now. I wonder if that's the right part number. They said they DO NOT have the part for our cars.

Get the part number from the dealer, then call ECS or search that part number on genuineaudiparts.com Those two sites seem to have everything.
