    75k service question

So I just got off the phone with a service adviser at Audi and after talking to him about the 75k service he said that I need to get the timing belt and all the pulleys replaced with it. that alone he said is $1850. lol im out of warranty so ill have to pay all of that. my timing belt squeaks a little but that’s about it. so is what he is saying true that I have/need to get my timing belt and pulleys changed out at 75k? What should I get done at 75k? I just changed my plugs last week and when I bought the car I have the dealership change the rotors and pads because of vibrations so rotors have 10k miles on then. What do I need to get done at 75k? I looked it the service book that came with the car and they had all the services completed all the way up to 45k it looks like, 72k is on it now. since I have had it I have gotten the oil changed every 5k.

$1850 is a lot for timing belt. My dealer estimated around $1300, but my mechanic did it for $900. It's not just the belt and pulleys that they include in the estimate, but also water pump and a couple of other small things here and there. It's the labor that gets you...

Honestly, with the timing belt, you never know until your engine explodes, that is why it is recommended to change it long before you should have to. I did timing belt at 80k. They replace all kind of stuff, water pump, thermostat,etc...check all hoses and wires. You can find an aftermarket shop and do it for cheaper, but it's still a costly service.
