My key FOB doesn't work and I've been opening/locking the car thru the door locks. Anyone know if VAG-COM could fix this problem? If yes, how? Thanks.

this is what i did to program my key if the programming is lost or you get a new module, you do not have to go to the dealer for this, or use Vagcom. I only had one switchblade(not programmed) key and the spare, worked fine, but you do need 2 keys to do this.

1 Take the key you DO NOT want to program and put it in the ignition. Turn it one click forward.

2 Close and lock the drivers door with the second key

3 On the second key (the one in the drivers door) press the 'UNLOCK' button ONCE only. The lights will flash on the car, but the doors will remain locked

4 With the second key still in the drivers door, unlock then lock the door again.

5 Pull the key from the slot and test remote functions.

6 Open drivers door, remove key from ignition.

If doing more than one remote , if both of your remotes don't work, do the above for the first key, but on step #3, press the 'UNLOCK' button twice. The lights will flash twice, then continue on with step #4.

Walk up to the driver side door. Press the lock or unlock button on the remote once. Within 30 seconds lock or unlock the car by turning the key in the lock cylinder. The remote should be programmed now. I've never had a problem doing this with a single key. Make sure your batteries are installed correctly.

infinkc's steps are correct. you are going to have to get another key cut to stick in your ignition.

    You have 2 options:

Get a blank uncut key for 10bucks- 35 to get locksmith to match your keyfob cut. Proceed with instuctions by infinkc's

if u want 2 keyfobs do what i did- Go on e|bay and get a uncut blade ($10) and used-cut keyfob(~50).Go to a good locksmith to get the blade cut. mine charged 35 to cut the blade (he wouldn't guarantee it but i said go ahead and it worked). punch the keyfob(use a very thing nail or similar),insert new cut key (and original pin if you didn't bend it) and toss old blade. My situation was I had NO keyfob, but an old school key with the little flashlight circle button only.

    this will work.
