New rebuilt Tranny whines in 5th & 6th gear

So what does it mean when your newly installed rebuilt tranny whines when in 5th or 6th gear? Sound is constant so long as car is under load and will increase or decrease in loudness with throttle response.

Update: Apparently new gears can whine a little until they are broken in a bit.

Man your not having too good if luck. Sounds like something is binding or rear diff is rubbing. Is it loud?

Yah, my luck isn't so great. Not going to mention shops involved till they can get back to me. Anyway, it's not too loud. Probably wouldn't be noticed if talking or radio is playing, but if just cruzin on the Hwy by yourself, then yes you will hear it, certainly when you press the throttle to pass. Now the noise I might be willing to deal with as now I have a tranny that shifts through 2nd gear much better; however if this new sound is a sign of a problem then I'm pissed cause I didn't just pay someone to fix one problem in return for another.

Whine can only be heard when 5th or 6th are engaged.

do you have an apikol rear diff mount by chance? mine has a whine at cruising speed, its the noise from the rear diff being transfered into the car.

My all stock drive train has a very quiet whine to it in 5th and 6th. Usually the wind noise drowns it out at speeds higher than 50mph though.
