    Help with beeping sound...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
been lurking on the site for a while but don't post too often to please have mercy if this question has been asked before...

The brake and ABS lights are flashing in my car and whenever I brake hard or shift from 1st to 2nd, I get a loud beeping sound. Any ideas what's going on?

I recently changed rotors and calipers but the brake light is still flashing. Trying not to take it to the audi dealership if it's something you guys can help me diagnose...

EDIT: i have a 2000 B5 S4 with ~98k on the clock. I've changed water pump and done regular maintenance on the car.

do i need to take the car to an audi dealership to turn off the service warning in my cluster? I've done all the regular maintenance but haven't been able to turn off the service warning since it wasn't done at a certified audi dealership... is that what's causing the beeping?

if its happening constantly, you probably have a VSS issue. or abs module.

    do yo have a CEL?

and you will probably have to go to the dealer to clear the cluster shit tho unless you have vagcom

don't have vagcom so I'm not sure if it's throwing a CEL :(
wtf does VSS mean? I hope it's not my abs - sounds expensive

vehicle speed sensor, and the abs module isn't *too* bad. could be worse off honestly

usually its one of the two that throws the abs light

guess i'll be making a trip to the dealership.

1 more question... how easy is it to reprogram the auto-leveling low-beams. I had a relatively big load in my trunk (snicker snicker) and my lights readjusted to pointing down to accommodate for the back end pushing down and raising up the front end up. However, now the lights are still pointing down and it's a PIA to drive at night... i have to use my highs to see anything!

    Thanks!

one more thing, run to autozone prior to going to the dealer.

dealer's charge at least $100 for diagnostic fee, and autozone does it for free

I'm in Marietta with VAGCOM and more than willing to help out. I know it's not REAL close, but depending on where you are in Columbus it might not be too bad.

Actually, you could probably find someone even closer if you check in the regional forums. I believe there's a few people who post from the Columbus area.

went to autozone and it looks like my abs module is out. did some searching around and it looks like a new unit will cost 1900 + labor. Any suggestions on a cheaper alternative or am i stuck paying 2k+ to get this sorted?
