Ive been on here for a while now, close to about 2 years since if ive had the Audi, and am always reading about new posts and new parts that people install, how to install them, and the benefits of them. So i figured that I would make one of my own with the mods that I have in case anyone had any questions or was wondering how something worked and the benefits that it had for the car. So here we go!:
First things first that I did, was get "chipped". I am stgII now and its a complete 180 from being stock. Granted everyone will say the same thing, I figured that I would post it anyways. I was stage 1 with unitronic for a while and loved it. I went to GIAC for stage 2 because the UNI file needed 93+ octane to run it and there is hardly any 93 octane in Vegas. It would be a good choice though for people that are running meth because then you can run the stage 2 file with 91 octane. GIAC also has great customer service and love the file.
For stance, I went with H&R springs (dont have pics, sorry) and loved the way that they rode. It was a bit bumpy for me and ultimately, I did not like the fact that the car was not as low as I had wanted it to be. I then went with Neuspeed Race springs, and these things just slammed the car to the ground. Ride quality is good and even being so low, it still has a real nice ride to it:
Next thing that was done was a custom 3" DP+exhaust combo. I had a local shop do this for me and went with a 3" dp+exhaust all the way down. I did this because I was planning on going BT and this would help out further down the line. I kept the stock cat with the stock taper down to the turbo to keep some pressure build up with the 3" exhaust so that my build-up would not take as long and then gutted and welded the dp to the exhaust and all the way till the end. I went with Borla mufflers because they had a 3" inlet. I then bought some magnaflow tips and installed the S4 rear valence in order to accommodate the quad tips. The sound is amazing and I personally love it. There is some drone due to the piping and the diameter of the whole thing, but it doesnt bother me cause I love the way that it sounds. It also doesnt sound like i have a fart can on my car because its real throaty. Here is a vid when I got it done (it doesnt sound so loud here but it broke in and did become a bit louder):
Next thing on the list was a boost gauge. I find this an essential mod to do because this little thing will tell you whether or not you have a boost leak, PVC, or anything that might not be going right with your car. I decided to go with a vent gauge because i liked the way that it looked. I chose Omori due to it being the biggest gauge, and the fact that I just loved the way that it looked. Install was straight forward and I feel that it really makes the interior just that much better. Overall, very happy with this product.
I was then reading a few threads here on the zine and came across a Porsche BBK thread and was instantly hooked. After reading thread after thread after thread, I figured exactly how to go about it. I bought the calipers from a guy on vortex for dirt cheap. I then sourced some Mercedes C-class rotors off of fleabay and had the lug holes drilled out 1mm in order to accommodate the Audi hub. I bought the SS lines from JHM and the bolts needed to bolt up the brakes from them as well. Overall, EXTREMELY pleased with how it turned out. Spent roughly 700 on everything when sourced by itself. Braking increased dramatically as you can imagine. The only downside is that many wheels wont fit over the brakes, this doesnt matter to me so much because i space the shit out of my stance anyways.
I then went to GSG to get an inlet pipe. I have read numerous times about the airflow and how restricting it was and that rubber pipe was always getting stupid hot. Install was also very simple and TBH, I didnt tell that much of a difference. Im sure though that the airflow is constant now and the pipe is never hot, maybe luke warm at best when im spirit driving the car. (I will post pics of it on the car if anyone is interested)
Next mod was an APR fuel pump and BHS stage 2 PCV fix. The catch can works great and really does collect shit that you dont want recirculating back into your engine. I drain it about once a month, but usually dont get too much due to this desert heat. As for the fuel pump, all I have to say is wow. Its like the car has been rechipped. It is seriously night and day. It feels as if the car just breaths better in general, boost is more constant, and the pull is constance as well. I dont have any engine bay pics up yet, but will deff post soon so you guys can see where I mounted the can.
Last power mod that I did was the VF chargecooler. I think that I am the only one thats running this thing and I personally love it. There is barely any lag anymore and in this 100 degree weather, the car pulls as if its in the 70's. Pulls even harder when it IS actually in the 70's. I also need to post some pics of this thing. The only downside is the fact that I am the only one running it lol. I can only imagine that a A/A cooler would work the same way and I feel that it is truly a great investment, especially to people like me that are living in nothing but heat mostly all year.
As for exterior, I havent done that much to the car. I got an ebay rs4 rep grill for my DTM front end and fitment was top notch and matched my DTM fog grills. I also have the dectance LED's which really are not worth the money. If anyone is interested, dont get them. Yeah they do look good, but mostly when its night. During the day, it just looks like some hack job of the B8 leds and is truly not worth the money. The cutoff on them sucks, and they just are not that bright.
This is all that I can think of as of right now, I will post more pics of the car since I just got these:
and will def post some engine bay pics as well. I will also update this as new mods keep coming their way. If there are any questions or comments, feel free to post or PM me. Thx to everyone on the zine that has helped me with all of my issues and helped me with all my mods as well, bigups to you guys. Hope this helps someone out here!
