Cool Latest addition to my garage, for now...

Just purchased this car because it has a mechanical problem. It should be simple. It reminds me of my 1st A4, same year, color and drivetrain. This is a 1997 1.8T Auto Trans. non-quattro. Paid $1000. Unbelievably, the interior is in great shape, especially the front seats, they look great.

Check out the pictures, I know they are bad, but I couldnt wait to show you all. Thanks for viewing.

    Nope, 134,000 miles.

The transmission wont go into reverse or 5th gear, its in limp mode. I have ran into this a couple other times on A4's. Basically clear the memory and it works. The rainy wet roads would screw with the transmission gear selector switch, but once it dries out and you clear the memory, good as new.

So far so good. I havent had a chance to drive it too much, had to get it smogged and registered first. I just got that done right now. I have put about 10 miles on it so far with out any problems. I think the turbo may be going bad though, sometimes sounds like a dentist drill while driving. Hopefully I'll find a used turbo cheap.

UPDATE-**-The drilling sound was the turbo failing. It started running horribly, the next thing you know, its smoking up a storm. I purchased a used turbo got it installed and she is running fine.

I do have a concern. The car does act slighltly weird. When the car down shifts when slowing to a stop, the RPM's dip lower than normal. The car doesnt stall, but definitely doesnt feel right when down shifting. The car did not do this before the turbo failed. I have triple checked all hoses/connections. I am stumped.
