Question Tiptronic issues Codes and Gear display issue.

So I have a couple of issues that started Saturday.

Started with the display for the transmission highlights each gear P N R D 4 3 2 when selected and shows 5 4 3 2 1 in TIP mode. Sporadically it would flash when D was selected, not allowing TIP mode to work. I VAG-COM’d it and it would not highlight D and would show gear selection of Z3 in VAG COM for Drive when this occurs. It does show that the up and down arrows for TIP shifting are working so I am sure it is not the magnets.

It appears to only occur when the engine/trans are nice and warm and all temperatures are up.

Today it went into limp mode highlighting all gears at all times and was stuck in 3rd gear.

I don’t have time to get under the car tonight or tomorrow, so when I do I would like a plan to see what the issue could be.
Might this be an issue with one of the electrical connectors? Simple electrical cleaner, dry and it could be gone? Anyone else have these same codes/display problems?

    Thanks in Advance!

Your F125 switch is bad or it needs realignment. It is on the driver's side of the trans, behind the trans mount.

Thanks. I will see if that is the issue, good thing this trans is still under warranty. Better investigate and make some calls.

Do you know how to align it or the specs for alignment? Hope this can be done without an engine pull.

Put it in P. There are 2 bolts on the cable bracket. Loosen them and wiggle the cable to relieve the tension, tighten bolts.

Here is a pic the TozoM8 posted for me in another thread. I was under it the other day and couldn't see them. Maybe I didn't look hard enough but will be doing this this weekend. Looking at the pic again, I think I was looking too far forward.

Ah, wow feeling really stupid right now, when put the trans in, I connected the shift link cable at an earlier than I had before and It was a bit tighter. I thought nothing of it. Probably should not have been doing that at 2 in the morning. Lets hope it was that easy.
