I just had a cylinder misfire about 2 weeks ago. i changed all my coils, fixed the problem flawlessly. on my way home from work twenty minutes ago the check engine light came on again. i scaned it when i got home and found that i have more misfires, some new ones, and some same as the old few. however, there is no performance changes at all. rides perfectly fine.

any ideas why this would happen again?!

Was there oil in your spark plug holes?

When was the last time you changed your plugs?

Some coils will fail within days or years.
One of mine coil fail while the car was hot, never cold. So go figure.
On the past I aways bought kragens brand coils. They are cheap and burn all the time. I finally went to audi dealer for a open recall for coils (that was in beginning of 2010) they replaced with new revised coils for free. check if this recall still available. my car is A4 2002 1.8t.

Peel back the sheilding on the plugs for the coils. The wires tend to fall apert from the heat and create a short. You will go thru coils all the time and eventually start blowing fuses. I had to repair all four plugs and havent had a bad coil for a good amount of time.

I dont think many people check the wiring at the plug they just change the coil everytime at least for me that took care of the prob look into it. Just peel back the rubber boot and take a look...
