    JHM in the 12's AGAIN

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So after a long time of telling people to get to the track and test this or test that. I took some of my own advice and decided to get to the track myself

I saw the other cars with my same mods doing real well but you just never know how YOU and YOUR car are going to do.

    here are my mods

    JHM headers
    JHM intake manifold
    JHM clutch flywheel
    JHM L/W rotors
    JHM tune
    Custom catback with X
    Semi L/W rims..

I went with my wife so I get cheered on from her.. She didn't run the camera like I was thinking but We still had a great time..

When you look at the parts I have power wise your looking at a tune/headers/exhaust and a intake manifold. These parts turn your car into a different car. For the money spent I have RS4 performance without the RS4 price tag and issues.

thoughts and quick summery of the track day.

If you have the JHM headers/tune you have a entire new car. Before I could launch the car at about 35-4000 and get out of the hole quick. If you launch your car at 4000 now your going to destroy the tires. When I saw track videos of 91GL I now realize what he was going threw.

The first few passes I made were test passes to feel out the track and car. Not to bad they were low 13's nothing to get too excited about... When It came time to go for a good time. I got the RPMs up and went for broke... I also went for the wall as the Tq from the headers just destroyed the tires and sent me spinning the tires all the way threw 1st gear.

After A friend game me some advice I was ready to just... Let the car do the work. I didn't want to over drive the car. Just let all my JHM parts work for me.

Below are the results..Performance and money wise I got what I payed for and Im very happy with the results
    .

    !2.9 @ 109

Could I have gone faster.. That alwasy seems to be a comment that gets put in..I don't know. I didn't drive the car to the edge with power shifting. I never checked to se what RPM I shifted at and I just let the car do the work.. My times are in line with the other header cars so Im happy. Solid consitant results

I want to take a second and thank JHM.. Threw this entire prosses Ive blown there phones up with questions.. E mailed them countless times with crazy questions..I had broke several things do to working on my back in the garage and not being able to get to them or just pure mistakes. When Installing my clutch I ordered the wrong slave cylinder for my car *B5 part number I had momerized* JHM called me becasue they piced uip on the mistake...and they sent out the proper one for me.

Ive worked with companys in the past and have been let down. So when there is a company that really is customer focused you aprechate it and it shows. Both in performance parts and performance of your car.

IM very happy with my car and the performance.. Now Just waiting for the JHM Supercdharger kit

Thanks for all the nice comments.. The 60ft is the hardest thing to get right. It took a good amount of pre track practice to even get close

It was a big turbo GTI. The turbo was so big the car didn't do anything down low but ran like a scolded dog up top. Talk about bad area under the curve.. Nice guy tho.. I raced a few other cool guys that took video and a few pix. Im going to E mail them later this week and see if they send me anything

Sorry for being confused, but is it an automatic? You said "I never checked to se what RPM I shifted at and I just let the car do the work." I'm just a little confused.

I realize that, but when someone says "I just let the car do the work" it sounds like an automatic, although that's probably not what he meant at all.

Ya I use lots of car terms..race lingo..and Its hard for some to understnad.. If you read twice or three times it works out.. And its always ok to ask

Quoted for truth.... No in car terms letting the car do the work just means you don't try to over dirve the car.. If 4000rpm is the sweet spot for a launch going 5000rpm is over driving the car. Shitting a 7500 because thats where the rev limmit is when max power is at 6800 would be over driving the car.. So I just let the power do the work.

Exactly driving the car feeling the power and just letting the car do the work. Not fighting and over drivinng.. You have to know the car. Lots of people don't have that feel for the car and that really gets in the way..

You have to use the force..but not force it,......,. get your decoder ring out for that one.

And what's labor on installing the headers (since the motor has to be pulled and assuming someone didn't have the means to do it themselves)? Nice times, btw...you should submit the time slips to the database...

$1500 seems to be the going rate.
One place in the NE was advertising $850 or something like that if you bought the headers through them.

Labor rates are as others have said from 500-1500. Obviously installing them yourself is free and viable for many. Its now common to see B5 guys pulling there own motors. While some would rather not be bothered I do agree that even if you had to pay the most 1500$ its worth the price for the mod.
