these were a ***** when i first took them out. but yea you need to buy an allen head "socket" and get like a foot or so of extensions. then take off the wheel and it's super easy.

save the hassle and like they said, go buy a set of 3/8 drive socket allen and hex head sets. they will pay out in the end if you do a lot of your own work.

If you like cooked rubber. With the right tools it is VERY easy to R&R.

Get allen head sockets, maybe even ball end allen sockets. Also wobble extensions. Napa sells decent tools at a reasonable price, if you don't use tools much Harbor freight sells them, also but are lower quality by far.

theres actually a cut out for these bolts and are easily accessable from the inner fender, and i would suggest reinstalling them. not too hard to do at all.

This, and a 2nd person. Working together and both of you having patience is crucial. Thankfully, my buddy has the patience of a saint, and I do not. It was balanced. But many extensions are key.

One guy turns the bolt a little from the bottom, then another from the top of the car. Rinse, repeat. It's a major PITA, but a major sense of accomplishment and worth the reward afterward.

Same here, but we did it differently. One guy under the car holding the allen socket and the other on the outside of the car with all of the extensions turning the bolt.

Patience is key. On this job, trying to go quickly is going to cost you somewhere.

I did my piggies about 2 weeks ago and it went very smooth, With the axle shield I just took 2 long extensions and with my wheel still on just warped my arm around the suspension as I was laying under the car and got at the bolt in the middle from the top of the shield. I kinda found it worse to put it back in place, (take the wheel off, much easier anyway) The other bolt I found extremely difficult was the third dp bolt on the right on the drivers side dp, the axle is in the way for a normal wrench and just plain awkward. I ended up using a 6" extension then a 45 deg swivel and then another 6" extension. (buy a 17MM 90 deg swivel closed wrench) much much easier for the dp bolts. well anyway here are a few picks of the DP's and gutting them. I did the cut, gut and weld on the Downpipes.

I actually reused my gaskets. They looked to be in good shape but I plan on doing custom dp's later so I will be replacing the gasket then. It's not a bad idea to replace to old gasket though.

Dude, you know they sell allen head sockets, right? No need to hack up a perfectly good allen wrench

Exactly, but you forgot one adjective: RATCHETING!

OP, lots of extensions and THIS will save your life:
