Does anyone else have these headliner/Dash issues?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I will freshly get in my car a few hours after detailing and find little pieces of foam on the dash, or sometimes they will appear while driving with the windows down. I assume its foam from the front of the dash or headliner deteriorating, does anyone know exactly where this is coming from or what the issue is?

My second issue is that when I drive around with my windows down and sunroof closed to partially open I get an interior squeaking noise. I thought it might be something with the back seat (I have other rare squeaky noises when the car is closed completely, but it seems when I push on the headliner I can replicate the noise. If any of you have this problem have you figured out a way to fix it?

Yeah I assumed there was no "fix for the phone. I'm more annoyed by the headliner noise.

yup same here with the foam, the worst is my dash is curling up on the edges near the windsheild. I hope the windsheild breaks and I will be there when they replace it and put down some liquid nails!!

I was getting the foam as well so i decided to investigate a while ago. I actually just deleted the photo's from my phone the other day. I never posted because i figured no one would care. Anyway, if you pull the small vents on either side of the dash (they pop right out) you'll probably find some of that foam in there. it's either part of a filter or perhaps surrounded the vent itself to insulate against vibration. It seems it deteriorates over time... i cleaned out the remnants and haven't had it since. Also, if you pull your cabin filter out and look down inside the hole there is a larger piece of the same type of foam in there. Mine was completely intact so it wasn't coming from that.

I have the foam issue as well. Mine is coming from the center vent on top of the dash(near windshield). Every once in a while ill just see a peice just fly out. Havent had time to pop the vent to clean out whats left. I also have the curling issue with the trim on the same vent. It is pulling/pealing up from the vetn edge. But I digress. . . Back to the foam on hand. Whenever I feel the foam, it is very light and incredibly soft, to the point where it feels like ash, as soon as I put pressure on it, it crumbles away.

I also had a 90 coupe quattro and it had the issue of the foam coming from the vents and it is a liner on the vent flap that produces the vent foam in those cars it was a PITA to fix but the vent removal vaccum things seem a lot easier.

Same thing is happening to my C5.. Dash is curling on the drivers side.

The foam is from the A/C flaps and vent seals. From heat and use it breaks down after awhile and get's blown out the vents.
