    WHAT a bad night...

Girl friend comes home crying...... WHAT HAPPENED..... "your wheel..... "crying"" ! so now i have a scrap wheel and a girl thats traumatized! i keep telling her its ok its just a car and she says "i know how much you love it"

so now... before i go to the dealer and buy a new wheel because of my ocd.... what do you guys think of getting the wheel fixed? i heard that once you fix a wheel the color is off and it will start chipping after a year or two....?

so anyone know how much the 19' wheel is at the dealer? im afraid its something stupid like 1500...
should i even bother trying to fix it (10' long not deep no wobble)?

You should be able to get that fixed no problem. I would guess there are local companies that can take care of the rash for a reasonable price. I would recommend "googling" and making a few phone calls...

Haha! Wish my wheels were forged magnesiums! Should replace "mag" with "alum" maybe...

I think it's a Canadian/Quebec thing. We call all "non-steelies" wheel "Mags" regardless of the alloy used.

    Definatly sound repairable...

if you go to a decent place they should leave it like brand new and you wont suffer down the road any peeling

Have any pics? Most curb damages can be easily fixed. Unless you are planning to keep those wheels forever, the body filler should stay put just fine. The silver paint shouldn't be difficult to match either.

I had really nasty wheel rash fixed for $100. You'd never know. Color matched perfectly. Called a guy in Jersey named Johnny Dents. Does dent pulling and wheel repair. Picked it up from my work and dropped it off when it was done.

    don't even sweat it.

Just wait till there is a meet at your area. When there is a huge car meet there is always someone that fix your door dings and fix your wheels for dirt cheap since there is like hundreds of people that fix it.

If it is a curb rash it is practically nothing. Just curb it even more and get it fixed in the future for the same price. You can even fix it yourself and it is pretty simple.

I say dump her! J/K I would just leave it alone. Having a curb rash does not change the performance of the car and appearance. I would just clean it off and not worry about it. You're bound to get one sooner or later no matter how good a driver / parker you are. Sometimes you are having an off day and miss judge the distance like I did.

Bumping to find out if you had it fixed. If not, I was in Achtuning the other day and they have 19" stock reps there, look exactly like the factory stock ones, and they have some sale for October where all wheels are 10% off, might be worth it to be cheaper than the dealership: http://shop.achtuning.com/hartmann-h...olkswagen.aspx

The important issue is that it can be repaired. BUT even more critical is, how is your girl friend going to make it up to you!

In looking at them they are not exactly the same. On stock wheels, the center of the "potato peeler" part recesses where it meets the edge of the wheel, and on the reps they are the same hieght as the edge.

Just a word of caution. I had two A4 wheels refinished and they were not easy to match. I talked Wheel Collision Center and another place (think it was wheel-repair.com). Both places said the paint on the wheels contained chemicals that were not legal in the US (OSHA or EPA, perhaps) and both places used legal paint that was close, but not exact. I then found a guy in NJ who imported the correct paint from the EU and painted the wheels to match perfectly. The patching and painting held up until I sold the car a year later. My point: make sure the shop guarantees a match or keep looking--if they say "close" don't bet on it passing your OCD. Also, this was in 2005 or so and maybe things have changed, like the B8 wheels might use paint that can be easily sourced/used in the US.
