    Radio Presets

I am probably the last person to figure this out, but maybe this will help one other person out there...

When I got the car, I was always frustrated that the radio presets saved as artist names or song titles, not the actual name or number of the radio station. At one point one line of my radio read 'Gaga Bad' and the next line read 'Killers'. I always thought the radio would read the "station name data" and save that. Heck, my service guy even said that "it is the radio station's fault for not broadcasting the data right". Well, both of us were wrong. Anyhow, I accidentally figured out how to fix this...

When you store a preset, the radio just saves the current line of data. If you see the artists name when you save the radio station, it will now show the preset with the artists name. So, the simple solution... Go to the preset screens, tune to a station that has an incorrect title. You are now going to re-save the station. Wait until the station shows the line of data and quickly double-press the main dial (the dial you turn to pick a different preset). It will ask if you want to save the station, press the dial again to save it. If your timing was good, you just saved the proper title to the preset. It is easier to tell if you were successful by turning to another station and watching to see what that new preset now shows.

Like I said, I am sure this is as obvious as the telescoping-visor or the gas-cap holder to most of you , but in case it wasn't...

I'm going to try this. I am glad that someone else is experiencing the same issue that has been making me go nuts!

It was driving me nuts, too. I was always a little embarrassed to have the presets visible when someone was in the car.

    Don't be dissin' the Mouse...

I just don't want people to say, 'Nice car, but it can't record presets properly? My POS car does not do that..." I have gotten used to just turning off the AMI when someone is in the car with me.

I had this happen to me as well. I think all you have to do is add (or re-add) it as a preset during a commercial or any time when a song is not being broadcast. Otherwise you'll get the song info rather than the station info. But yea it's definitely annoying. My presets all said crazy stuff...one said "gaga" so I knew I had to figure something out lol.

Are you guys on MMI 2G? 3G? I'm on a 2011 MMi 3G and this is not an issue for me. Presets are saved with the station's name, not the song...

I wonder if there is a software update that is able to determine the station details and default with that. I am in 2010 P- with the AMI Concert Radio.

My 2011 with AMI concert radio - saves the station, not the artist.

I'll have to double check tomorrow, but I'm almost certain my 2010 Premium w/concert and AMI saves the station name only. I could be wrong though, as I use an iPod 80% of the time.

Great info! Also applies to B7 radios. Makes me feel stupid. I thought half of my stations were sending out bad/strange ID data.
