    Best Shocks+Springs Set-up for Non-sport suspension

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need some help guys. read through the recommended thread by Quattro. looked at other threads for clues.

I really like the Tein S-techs springs because obviously my 08 non-sport suspension has a bigger wheel gap in the front than rear Tein s-techs( 1.54F, 1.06R)

But duno what kinda shocks to go with

i also realized that lot of people get the Koni FSD + Eibach Pro Kit set up but im really not sure what to go with

let me know if you guys have any STRONG suggestions and TESTIMONIES!!!

again, my car has NON-SPORT SUSPENSION

    thanks in advance

    Todd

p.s-- recommend combinations please~~ and expeirence

i think he means save an additional $300-400 then buy coils lol
    in which i would agree...
except you might have to save a little more depending on what you were to get obviously...

I can't imagine why anyone would buy a shock/spring combo when some places are selling ST Coils for 700-750.
    I love mine.

If you want to get the most low out of springs/shocks go with H&R springs with Bilstein shocks. The springs alone get you 1.7" front and 1.6" rear. I do advise that this setup is stiff and bouncy. If your car is your DD and you don't mind the sporty feel this is it.

Can't wait for my Eibach Pro Street coils in spring :)

I just installed H&R / Bilstein and I like them. I had the non sport suspension also. It's stiff and bouncy I agree, but I like, it it doesn't bother me. If you're not sure what to go with coilovers or springs/shocks read up on this forum about adjusting coilovers. It is pretty hard to get them adjusted perfect, for some people it required a few adjustments to get them where they wanted, and of course after each adjustment you should get an alignment done. I'm not saying coilovers don't look nice. But if you don't want all that aggravation go with some spring/shock combo. And if you want to go as low as possible you want to get what I got. This is the lowest setup for our cars.
Here is a link with some pictures I posted yesterday after I installed the new suspension.

    Good luck.

You don't have to adjust coils if you don't want to. Then you're in the same boat as those with a shock/spring combo. Coilovers just give you the option to get the exact ride height, and if dampening adjustable, the exact ride you're looking for. I vote save up for coilovers.

I recently went from stock non-sport suspension to Koni FSD/Eibach Pro on 18x8" and am very happy. The look is exactly what I wanted. Dropped 1.25" front and 1.5" rear. I really like the ride too. Stiffer and way less body roll than stock, but still good for DD. Great on the shitty Atlanta roads. (Note that I also added the RS4 rear sway, so that could be helping body roll too.)

    Here are my before/after pics.

with the koni or bilsteins with eibach springs, is it still as bouncy as it is with just the springs?
i hate how bouncy it is, if shocks would solve that and make it stiffer thatd be awesome.

anyone else want to comment on this post?

    it basically comes down to

if you want shock/spring combo= KONI FSD + Eibach or Bilstein + tein stech?
if you want coils= KW variant 1 or Bilstein PSS9 or ST coils?

yes it is another coils vs shock/spring combo thread...

Im willing to spend at max $1000 for suspension.

with the coils-- i dont want to be constantly adjusting
with the shocks/spring-- i dunno if it is reliable.
