Somebody talk me out of buying these tires:

It's time for tires on my A6, and I'm planning to go with the following setup:

    - Piaa Super Rozza Monoblock 19x8 et35 silver wheels
    - Sumitomo HTR-ZIII 245 35 zr19

Rims are stock width and offset, tires are just a hair narrower and a hair taller (9.64" x 25.75"). What do you think?

Trying to think of what they look like. I think these are the ones that go on an Acura NSX IIRC. I like them, but more importantly what made you decide on these? vs the rest of the Piaa line up or any other MFG. for that matter?

PS: I know people's first reaction and/or question is going to be, "What's the weight vs stock vs others?"

I bought the wheels a long time ago - got them because they were really cheap. My only complaint is the ricey bolt-on center cap. My Audi center caps snap in, but don't fully fill the recess and don't sit flush with the face of the wheel. I bought these wheels because they were super cheap and local. Should have gone wider, but I think I'll like them alright.

The tires were my main concern. I put a deposit in on them Thursday and they should be here Tuesday, so I've still got a couple of days to talk myself out of a big purchase. As for the tires, I've heard glowing reviews about the HTR-ZIII's, but they are expensive - $600 for the set, installed, which is more than I've spent on a set of tires in the last 10 years

Well then why don't you go with the Yokohama AVS ES100 .. Heck, if you are looking for something inexpensive thy these: http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.p...&nichtweiter=1 To me, it's a great looking tire.

    Or even these:

I can't remember the last time I spent less than ~$1K on a set of tires. If there's one thing you don't want to cheapskate on, it's tires. The MOST important safety feature.

I hear great things about these, and they're the highest rated summer tires (in your size) at the Tire Rack: Continental ExtremeContact DW. I also hear good things about these: Yokohama ADVAN Neova ADO8.

I think the wheels are good looking and with the right drop will look good. Have you thought about Nitto NT NeoGen ZR tires? I have them on my A4 (about 3K miles so far) and so far so good.

U2redeye - you just finished with a set of the sumitomos I bought? That's comforting - maybe this will be a good buy after all. Any specific commentary with regard to their handling characteristics in specific situations?

they are some of the best tires i've purchased EVER without spending $300+ per tire. they arent noisy on the road until just before you have to get rid of them, not unlike most tires. to keep from going too in depth, wet traction is superb and dry traction is excellent. several trips to GA and SC from NY thru rain, 90+degree summers in GA, and a bit of snow during a last minute trip to NY...no autocross, but quite a few spirited runs around town...these tires held up to anything i threw at them.

the only "Buyer: Beware" tip i have is simply this....make sure you rotate them often. they wear a bit faster than most and like i stated before, i literally tore up those tires. they have an almost seamless tread on the inside of the tire specifically to reduce the noise created from uneven wear from the rear camber. i pushed the tires to the limit of their wear on the way to SC from NY. i was hoping to change them after my trip, but that very same seamless inner tread shredded under load. no blow-out (thank god) but i had to immediately get a set in Boondocks, Virginia. with that said, maintain frequent rotation and be weary of the treadwear. dont push the life of the tire and you will be very happy!

i hope that helped...anything else you need to know?
