Some notes for the archive on ST coilovers from RavenMS

Install is fairly straight forward. Follow any write up/tech article on the subject.

When deciding ride height, I had 1 7/8 of thread showing and that led to about a 25.25 ride height, approximately. Funny thing is I was at 25 on one side and 25 1/4 on the other.

When adjusting, 2 full turns is 1/8 inch of ride height in this range.

I had a slight bump/clunk after install. To alleviate this, I loosened the top control arm bolt, the 4 bolts that connect the suspension to the body, and the 1 bolt/nut that holds the coilover in the suspension housing. I then jacked the knuckle up to ride height (Yes, I did this to begin with, but I want to tighten every thing under this tension), then I tightened the four 17 mm bolts that hold the housing to the car, then the 1 bolt/nut combo holding the coilover inside the housing, then the bolt/nut that holds things to the coilover.

I then adjusted my tire pressure to 34 in the rear and 36 in the front. I was at about 39psi all the way around.

    The ride is 10000x improved.

I'm installing the fronts tomorrow, so I'll post more after that.

Just got mine installed at RavenMS on Friday, i'm very impressed so far for the price. Going to have to raise it up a bit (sadly) due to the quality of roads in my area, but the ride is improved ten fold over stock. Not bouncy and plenty stiff, capable of slamming. The guys at Raven were awesome, couldn't give higher praise.

Is there a GB or something on these? I looked on their website but there's nothing listed.

Are these pretty quality? They're not like the SSAC of suspension, right? [Says the guy who bought one of the first set of RP's]

st coilovers are basically kw variant 1 coils. they are a great entry level suspension for those looking to get better handling and improved looks that dont do very many sanctioned racing events and track days. Perfect for the looks department and street use.

It's made by KW. We've sold many sets of ST CO's, and no complaint.

Absolutely, I have no regrets . Soon as RavenMS finished the install I was off to the bay area for the weekend, weather was incredible!

Few Shots, excuse the iphone quality:

    Coast in Santa Cruz

Dirty, Low, some rubbing with passengers :(

Back in San Diego, slightly cleaner. Raised the front a touch no more rubbing or scraping over speed bumps. Time to space the stockers out or find a sweet deal on some RS4 reps.

To be fair, most of the entry level (Tein, H&R, Vogtland, Stasis SS, KW v1, ST, etc.) coil overs are for people who don't do "very many" sanctioned racing events or track days.

I did dozens of track days on KW V1 coils. They are more than up to the task. I prefer the Shine Racing setup that has been on the car for the last couple years though. Spending several grand to take a second off a lap time just isn't worth it.
