The stock calipers & rotors... Took the drivers front off last nite in an attempt to put my "S4" caliper springs on.

No dice... The rotors have developed a slight lip around the perimeter, from wear. It wouldn't come out of the caliper, so I reinstalled it.

But wow, they gotta weigh atleast 50lbs together (caliper & rotor)...

    * I'm gonna wait till I get new rotors to install these. Then repaint all calipers while off the car, maybe do some heavy clean-up on them (grind seams)...

Hopefully you have the money to get rotors. It sucks to get anywhere in a project, only to realize you don't have and need a vital part of it.

Err you can just use a screw driver and push the piston back into the caliper...
My replacement rotors were a 56lb box for 2, also dropped one on my foot... heavy for shiz.

I know. The Audi tool is only needed for the rear rotors. And my pads are still good, so I don't want to ruin them by prying on them with a flat-head.

Point is the whole assembly seemed too heavy to suspend from any other parts, to allow me 2 hands to pry the rotor free.

Not to mention, I didn't have any brake-fluid so I could remove the calipers totally. Next weekend...

I just shipped the stock front brakes out and they are heavy for sure. Each rotor was 26lbs and the box with the calipers I want to say was just over 30lbs, i would have to double check that one.

The reason why the rotors and calipers are heavy is because they are full of gravity.

When I bought my B6 S4 brakes (for my A4), the package with the calipers, rotors, pads, and carriers was 93lbs. So yeah, they're heavy.

Not only that, gravity doesn't even exist. It's just a word used to describe the behavior of objects with mass.
