The consensus is DON'T put HIDs in halogen heads, the beam is going to go everywhere and you will be blinding on coming traffic.

People generally use these "upgrade" kits in Bi-Xenon housings, not halogens.

There are people selling Xenons all the time in the classifieds, recently I've seen them go from $500-$800 with everything included. lowestA4 also has them on hand from time to time and will reply to PMs.

$500-$800? too much for me. i rather spend that kind of money on performance upgrades instead of headlights.

There are also plenty of people who do run HIDs in halogen housings with no problems/complaints. If you go that route, just be sure to aim the lights properly.

I understand that is not the "ideal" set-up, but it can be done without problems.

or you can just buy depo halos projectors off ebay, and put HID's in them. All you have to do is remove the halos (4 bulbs) and then you have projector xenon without halos and look pretty oem! Also the beam pattern is great! The depos are $200 shipped!

I really have to disagree with this, I have these (see sig) and I've had no issues with them and drove behind a friend and have him do oncoming and he said they really don't shine in the eyes much more than halogens. Mine are aimed down a bit which probably helps. Id say do it, ive had other friends say they look good and don't blind too. Just my .02

As long as you aren't blinding people it's all good, but I still think projectors are the only way to go with HIDs.

i loathe people who run hid's without projectors...
people may think they are aiming them right but i have yet to see a car with them that doesn't blind me...
i dont get why people hate these halogens so much...my old car has stock hid projectors and i thought i would not be able to get used to the switch back to halogens
has not phased me one little bit...
    spend your money elsewhere...

Well i got bixenon's and have the infamous "dipped headlight" issue. At this point id rather go aftermarket than a costly oem part made by audi that isn't even designed well.

Do you by any chance know what kit were supposed to get for the b7's?

Just get a pair of D1S bulbs on Ebay. Spend around $50 for them and pick the color 4500K (OEM), 6000K (whiter)
Your dipped issue will go away
