Trying to figure out which FMIC to run...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
...in the next 3 months or so, I'm going to upgrade to a full framed GT28RS turbo T25 .64AR, PSI manifold and Revo tuning.

Do I have other options for a FMIC besides the ER Comp? It's a bit pricey at ~$1500.

I've budgeted for everything but the FMIC, so I'm trying to decide which to go with at this point.

    Opinions?

Racetec should be okay, but in all honesty the ER comp is the best available and I find people almost always end up upgrading to it eventually.

That's basically what I figured...that the ER comp is the way to go. I'm just making sure given the setup that I'm going with (won't be upgrading beyond this setup in the future) that there wasn't a better suited (read: cheaper) FMIC that'll still do the job well.

racetec uses a low density core, look at some of the install pics around here. I wouldnt trust is on a hot day to control temps with even a k04

Unless you have a dense Garrett or Bell core like a precision or ER, your cheating power from your setup. We can make intercooler setups with any core.

I'm sure custom piping for a Garrett or Precision intercooler would be more cost efficient than buying a ~$1500 setup. Do you guys (RAI) have a ballpark figure for how much something like that would cost?

    Edit:
I think something like this (Click) would be a good alternative, it has about the same dimensions of the ER competition intercooler.

Since I likely won't be going BT until after Christmas, this might be a good option. I'm starting my FMIC fund now...so I'll check on the pricing for the AWE FMIC around Xmas, like you said...and depending on how much money I have I may end up just picking this up. I still have some research to do though, as I've not read up much on the size/fitment of the AWE.
