    Headlights stopped working

Turned on my car this morning, headlight error on the dashboard. The green headlight light is on, even when they are turned off. DRL's and highbeams work though.
I didn't find any threads on this specific problem so I figured I'd post... I don't have vagcom so no error codes. They were working fine yesterday! I'm guessing it's just a fuse or something?

I would check the fuse. Do any of the other lights work?

Yes, all the other lights work. I'll check the fuse for sure, just wanted to get some ideas while I'm at work and can't look at it.

Maybe both bulbs burned out at once.

Ooooh let's hope not negative nancy They were both very bright and working yesterday.... actually I noticed over the last few weeks that one of the headlights was a bit dimmer than the other, it was still pretty bright but I could notice the difference. If that bulb went out would it cause both not to work?

There are no fuses for the headlights. If both lowbeams quit at the same instant, the Central Electric Control module under the driver's side dash has most lilely failed. Both lowbeams are powered directly from the CECM.

Ahh, didn't know that. How much is a CECM and is it feasible for me to swap in a new one? Not much of a diy'er outside of swapping sparkplugs

Since the replacment module has to be coded with the same coding as the original module, have an Audi indy shop swap it out for you. Used modules are ~$100>, new ~$240,

Ok, I find it odd that it would be that piece, as all the other electrical parts work fine... But you're the expert! I'll call my audi shop tomorrow and see if they can dig up a used one to put in.
