I'm running Conti DWS' right now and love 'em. Best price:performance tires I've ever owned.

Also have a set of GoodYear Eagle GTs which are pretty good as well.

The Hankook V4s you mention are rated terribly btw on TireRack.

We have GY Eagle F1 A/S on a 330xi we own........nice tire that performs well on wet and dry. Even in the snow its pretty good. The downfall is that the GY Eagle F1 A/S is a tad pricey.

My friend who owns a body shop swears by those, however they are ridiculously expensive.

I won't use the "get what you pay for" response b/c there are many nice tires in the A/S category but those GY Eagle F1's are truly a great tire for the quiver of one type of driver. If I wasn't running a dedicated snow and summer set up I would no doubt spend the money. They have worn like iron, I rotate them every other oil change (about every 7K-8K) and they wear incredibly even. I picked mine up for $165 a tire, mounted, balanced and valves

The shop I go through is in Huntington out on Long Island. They did us a solid on pricing b/c we bought a retarded amount of rubber of the past 2 years.

I can't speak about the GY Eagle GT's but the F1's and the F1 A/S tires are very good imo.......even though I run Dunlop Direzza's now..LOL

I'm in NYC but my car is out in Cold Spring Harbor.

I am running the yoko envigor's as i've been a yoko fan for a while. Very low road noise, but definitely a little more slippery than the summer performance tires I had on before. Very good rain traction, and haven't had them in the snow yet.

For all seasons I would go for the Conti DWS for price, and performance in bad weather.

bfgoodrich KDW...they are amazing, and have one of the highest ratings in all seasons, and if im not mistaken its the first all season tire able to pull a G....i used these on the track, daily driving and in the snow and have never had a problem...theyre a little loud though but i dont hear it bc of my exhaust

I never understood all-seasons. They are mediocre performance across all-seasons and are marginally better than slicks in snow. Instead, just get a good summer performance tire that does well in rain and buy snow tires if you are in that much snow over the course of a year.

Here's what I run, great performance in both weather conditions, awesome tires. Good balance of price, tread wear, noise, and grip.

    Winter: Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 ($156/ea.) - http://bit.ly/ct2ggK

ok these do look good and all the reviews are good too but i noticed the load index is only 91. our cars require load indexes of 93 or higher...

My dad put the DWS on his B7 (in a 17" size) and they're great for the money. The only downside is that if you need an 18", there's no XL one available AFAIK. Not an issue for the 17"s though.

I have been thinking about getting DWS in 245/40/18. Slighter wider, slightly more sidewall, and 93 load rating.

last time i tried going a little wider with a tire, i could feel the difference right away. they just felt very mushy in turns.

The 18" tires meet the acceptable criteria for Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) for our cars. Although OE tires are XL rated, the DWS 235/40/R18 SL still will work.

found that in another thread. can anyone second that??

Ive been running 235/40/18 Dunlop sport signatures since March. Great tires so far, we'll see how they handle a Wisconsin winter.

Yep, second. The XL will help a bit in corners and with potholes, but the tires themselves will physically support the car. I feel like last time I calculated it, the 93 load rating meant the car could weigh somewhere in the low 5000lb range. Seeing as our cars are ~4000lb (with fuel and a driver/passenger), you should be fine.

Dad got me a set of Micheline Pilot All Seasons, they were a bit pricy but really nice tires. It had Micheline Pilot Sports before that. I need something for the winter without dramatically losing wet/dry performance and cornering. Bottom line the Pilot A/S i have now are much grippier and handle rain way better. Handling wise i cant go in on corners as hard or fast because of the softer sidewalls. As for snow with quattro and the tires i got, never got stuck...

Except one time where i went drifting, got a bit sideways and the car pretty much lifted itself on top of the snow.
