water leak! possible sunroof drainage issue?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So yesterday I was driving to work in very heavy rain and I started to feel drips of water on my feet. Water was dripping from right behind my clutch/gas/brake pedals onto the top of my feet. I've searched and the majority of what I'm seeing is people with passenger side flooding, not driver. It rained all day, i was at work for 7 hours, and when i came out my floor was dry. Does anyone have any suggestions where to start?

Also I read a few things while searching about a class action lawsuit on the sunroof drains on our cars, does anyone know what I have to do to get audi to pay for it? Is it a recall? I'm not under warranty, but can I still get audi to pay for it, maybe even just cover the repair if I go into a dealer?

Check along the top area with the battery and the master cylinder for your brakes. See if u can see any holes or anything loose. And invest in the complete battery cover. Get it from ecs tuning. Costs under 100 bucks total.

I suggest you search on the B6 forums (a hell of a lot more info). You can easily test if it is the sunroof drains clogged. Open up sunroof. Take a cup of water and poor some in each corner (one at a time). The drains for the fronts are located behind the front doors. The rears are located in the rear wheel wells. If they are not clogged water to flow freely our of the drains. Just a FYI make sure you have a towel just in case your hand is not to steady with the poor.

Also would be a good idea to inspect the drains under the battery and master cylinder regardless. Take about 5 minutes (you have to remove the battery).

You should have received a letter in the mail saying it will be included/fixed in your new maintenance from audi. Got mine a month or so ago and haven't gotten around to it. I believe it's free, I'll dig up the letter tonight and get back to you.

    Don't think it's your sunroof.

Was your AC on? In my Passat, when it was really humid out and I had my AC running for long periods, I guess the condensation from the AC would start to drip off the piping under the dash on the driver's side. It rarely happened, though, so never looked into it.

Holy crap were you on the Sun?

OP did you go through any big puddles? That may be the culprit.

I still can't believe there is a class action lawsuit over this. It's ridiculous. You can more than likely clean the drain tubes yourself with a small diameter bristle brush.
