Ok guys-
Got my car back from my dealer with the new Stasis ECU tune. My car is a 2010 S-tronic with Stasis touring exhaust and 12k miles on it. First of all, it took 9 days total instead of the 2 days or 4 days as originally advertised (many speculations on here as to why but I don't need to comment). During those 9 days, I drove my e46 M3 and this past weekend was at the track with it, so my "butt dyno" will be kind out of calibration but I'll give my best attempt to give you guys some sort of impression. For you hard numbers guys, I apologize I can't give you any actual data to chew on, but if I dyno or track it, I'll let you know.
Boring stuff first: Driving with paddle shifters in stoplight traffic at normal throttle, there is a 'slight' noticeable difference in accelerating in terms of throttle response as the car wants to "jerk" more off the light. In S-mode (I don't use D) it seems to shift at a bit higher RPM. There is no appreciable difference in sound except less drone since it spends less time in the low RPMs which is actually a good thing. Basically maintains drivability in daily driving.
Now what you've been waiting for: In paddle mode from a full stop onto a sweeping left 1/4mi Florida style on-ramp at 80% throttle, shifting at around 6500RPM - it took off and threw my head back in the seat. Before I knew it, I was hitting 95mph in 4th and had to back off as I was merging onto the freeway. There is a pretty noticeable difference in torque and it keeps pulling instead of getting flat at around 5000 as before. It felt pretty ridiculously fast and I wasn't even at WOT. As a further pleasant surprise, I could hear the supercharger whining loud and clear now and I have the stock intake still. When traffic permitted, I did a few safe 60 to 90 passes downshifting from 6 to 4 and it was effortless. There is a fairly secluded 110degree right hander on my way home that I have been doing in the M3 every day this week. I did a 5 - 3 downshift hitting the turn at 35 and accelerating out hitting the sweet spot of the torque curve and it felt insanely fast - definitely felt a lot faster than taking that turn pre-tune and faster out than in the M3 by a good margin. I suddenly feel like I need better tires and suspension to match the power. Unfortunately, I never felt I even came close to the limits as there always seemed to be much more to spare in street driving conditions with this car, especially now.
Conclusion - in stock form the B8 S4 is a very fast car with awesome low and mid range torque. With the chip tune, it's now got even more midrange and high-end pull that doesn't seem to flatten until near redline. I've driven an e90 m3 and subjectively my S4 now feels faster. I apologize about not having any concrete numbers to throw out at you, but numbers don't bring a smile to my face like visceral sensation. I can't say it's worth $1495 to everyone, but I don't regret it. Drive hard and be safe!
