hey fellas! I am in progress of installing a Single din aftermarket dvd in dash player in my car. Now the new deck stays on with the key in off position. Is there a way for me to bypass this? I Dont want my deck to light up all the time due to theft and power drain. thanks in advance!

dont connect the red wire from the radio to the harness. You need to pull that from the ignition harness. don't know which one right off hand but if you search you'll find it!

the easiest (and best IMO) way to get the head unit to turn off when the car is off is to tap a switched fuse in the fuse pannel for your turn on lead. In other words run a wire to the fuse for the comfort control module from the red power lead on the head unit. Just go under the dash and tuck the wire up underneath by the pedals and you can see up by the fuses. When your key is on, your stereo will be on and vice versa.

just like any other aftermarket radio, you have to run a remote wire. to do this, like the guy above said you need to tap into a fuse in the fuse box thats only powered when the car is running. OR do what i did and tap into the ignition wire itself.

^^ While the ignition wire is also a great source i just found it easier to run a wire underneath by the pedals than it was to take apart the steering column. Just my .02. its probably cause im lazy

thanks for the response guys! I solved the problem simply by messing with the settings on the deck. WOW I can't believe how it sounds; it made my stock bose system sound so MUCH BETTER! I definitely recommend this set up. I am using an aftermarket sub of course!

How about key'd (+) circuit that turns off with key removal-- ? Most head units only use a the RED ign/key signal as a switch, they don't use it for actual power.
So here, I've used this wire many times as the key'd (+) signal to a head unit,

I connected the red wire(ACC) & yellow wire (battery) from my deck to the power lead from the metra harness that connects to the stock plugs. works fine for me! works without the key in the ignition. DVD also works in Drive...
