Front Diff

I was just wondering if any other R8 owners have had any problems with their front diff? I started to hear a slight grinding/scraping noise that was dependent on vehicle speed about a week ago and when I brought the car to the dealer today, they said the noise was coming from the front diff and that they were going to replace the entire unit. Seems really odd to me to have a diff problem on a one year old car w/ 14k miles on it. Anyone else experience any issues?

Is it only at slow speeds, say in a parking lot, when near full lock? If that's what you're experiencing, it's normal.

You can feel the one of the wheels forced to loosing grip because of the limited slip diff. It makes a grunting noise and the if conditions are right, it will actually jerk just a tad. Not a problem, not a worry. It's normal.

Nope, It happened at all speeds and steering angle didn't change anything. I thought that we had an open diff in the front with EDL for locking not a limited slip diff.

Got her back this morning. Dealer said they found heavy metal shavings in the front diff. I guess there was a bearing failure of some sort but they didn't know the root cause. I am sure they will send it off to Audi to find out.
