anyone experience loss of power when climbing a hill at the beginning of climb?

i've experienced with my car several times while starting to climb a hill like that of...say...a long steep hill..

it's got barely enough to climb like a granny but i have to pump the gas like a mad man putting a foot all the way down to the floor in order to re-engage something in the car to make more power...

am i just crazy or am i experiencing the classic case of turbo lag when i punch it while in incline?

or is it something mechanical or electrical or audi/volkswagen-ical?

i have auto tranny so maybe that's it but don't just jump to that and make your call...please consider other factors before you give up and blame me for getting an auto tranny...!!!

    :)
thx in advance for your thoughtful bashing!!!

auto tranny sounds like the culprit.

I believe that the tiptronic cars have a sensor that detects if you are on a hill and will hold a lower gear until it levels out. Maybe it's shitting the bed? Does this happen in both D and Tip mode? Just for reference, I have never experienced this problem with my tip car, and I drive on steep, long hills daily.

hum...i didn't know that was a feature of TIP...it happens pretty seldomly so i'm not worried but it sucks when it happens because you expect to climb that hill like a SOB and you go WTF...SOB POS etc...etc...etc...
    well...hoping to convert soon...
    wish me luck.

The most awesome thing in the world to drive on! Man, I miss my winding, steep mountain roads... Honestly, those roads are probably the only real place where the K03's shine... So much pull outta tight corners... :D
