    New intercooler

I searched to no avail. I'm sure this has been beat like a dead horse, but right now i'm running stage 1 software with no other upgrades than a APR DV. I plan to go Frankenturbo, if not BT, eventually. Would the ER comp be too much IC for a stage 1 setup or stage1+?

    TIA

In my mind it is but if you plan to do a BT soon you might as well spend the money on the bigger FMIC.

Yes, the ER comp. is a little much for a stage 1 car. It will be exactly what you want once you go BT, but for a K03s it is little unnecessary. ER sport would be a good choice for your stage 1 and possibly even when you go to the Frankenturbo. Then once you pull the trigger on the BT setup you can resell the ER for a good amount and put that towards the ER Comp when the time comes. ERs usually sell pretty quickly in the classifieds...

overkill yes, but if you are going to go BT in the future you will need it so why get something different now?

the only thing you might see is a slight decrease in PSI (like 1 or 2) on the smaller turbos when running a larger FMIC. if you are still on the factory side mount the benefits of a large FMIC would outweigh the cons.

if you have a good deal on the FMIC. then you can buy it now, and just wait until you get the BT to install it.. i think that makes sense..

I do plan for BT but it's just a matter of when. I still wanna do all the smaller upgrades, ie exhaust, hfc, intake, etc.

This is not true. My K03 ER comp car was very laggy. Driving stock SMIC cars felt so nice.

A good intercooler that will work well for stock through GT28RS is the AutoSpeed intercooler. PM Vinny.DTW. He has one and might be thinking about selling it.

So if I dont plan to go bigger than stage 1+, stock intercooler is good enough for me? Or should I get something different?

I wouldn't run the stock intercooler for even a stock configuration. Chipped Ko3s run HOT. You want some additional cooling whether its a DSMIC or a small FMIC like an ER Sport, ASP or Racetec.

So do you think the ER sport is sufficient for GT28RS? I'm going for a stealth IC, so I don't really want to go with another brand. I also don't want to buy twice. I only hear good things about the ER comp.

If I remember correctly, a few members have logged their car with an ER Sport and GT28RS (or equivalent) and it was not sufficient in the depths of the summer.

So I should either go with the ER sport until I get the BT. Or live with the lag of the ER comp until I go BT. Or maybe just an Apikol or Tyrolsport until BT. What do you guys think?

This. That's why I posted to wait until you actually go BT to get the Comp series.

Either go with Doug's advice on the Autospeed unit as he has pretty much run everything on his Avant, or go with my original post...
