cabin filter location ? smell

hey just did an engine wash the other day ,my motor looks nice and clean but now everytime i use my heat or ac my car smells like nasty engine wash ! just wanted to know if anyone has any idea how to fix this situation the right way besides hey get an air freshener lol ,,,and also wear the cabin air filter is located on a 99, 2.8l , thanks for the help

if its facelift (99.5) or up then there is kind of a flap piece over by the pass. window tray, if its pre face lift then the filter is under the whole plastic trim which is held in with one screw and two plastic type locking screws, very easy, dont cut your hand on the plastic though!

if you want to try and get the smell out faster go and get some BG frigifesh and spray the new filter with it when you put it in. this will get pulled thru the HVAC system and get that smell out faster.

here is a place that sells it. whenever i install a new cabin air filter on a customers car at work i always spray it down with this stuff 1st.
