    Question about cold start misfires

    Hi All,

I just bought an 2008 A6 3.2 Avant S-line in August. Love the car and I really like the technology package. As the weather has become colder, I noticed that my car misfires until it comes up to temp. It went into a hard limp a few weeks ago and the local dealer showed that it misfired on cylinder 6. They couldn't find anything wrong but it runs bad and drives bad until running temp is reached

Any suggestions on the issue and possible fixes? No more CEL since the hard limp.

    Thank you ahead of time

I had the same thing happen this past weekend. My misfire was on cyl 3 though. Anyway, my tech stated that it is a known problem and there is apparently a "computer update" that was needed and is documented in a TSB (don't know which one). They did this on Monday and have had no problems since (only one day though). It was 33deg this morning and the car was outside all night.
    Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you for the information. I'll follow up with my tech and see if I can get this computer update. Thanks again!

I have misfires in multiple cylinders many times, especially when it gets colder. The car is garaged but it still gets around 10C in there. It would display a solid MIL so it could be driven fine and then disappear a few starts later. The dealer said it was nothing to be alarmed at because the car sits for 2-3 weeks between starts so fuel leaks down.
