Rearview mirror fell off three times

I was hoping for some advice. My rearview mirror fell off a few months ago (this is the heavy, auto-dimming mirror with the rain/light sensor). Since it fell off I've had two separate glass companies put it back on where it fell off again in a few days. I called my Audi service dept and they said I may need a whole new windshield. Any ideas where to go from here? Thanks

I had the same problem. I bought my CPOd and the previous owner or dealership bent the tabs holding the mirror in place, so my was fixed under warranty. If you try to put it back on yourself becareful because you can break the glass from the inside if you push too hard. If you still have warranty see if the dealership will fix it under warranty for you. If not then you have to talk to the glass companies. If you can prove that the glass companies bent the tabs that hold the mirror in place then have them pay the dealership to have it fixed. No matter what you do the only option is a new windshield. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I have no warranty left. The dealer wants $450 for a new windshield installed, which I'm trying to avoid. Looks like I may have to do it anyways.

Um doesnt your insurance cover your windshield? Mine does. However some policies dont. Just ask your agent and see what they say.

I am assuming it just sticks on. If it doesn't, then I apologize, this post is useless.

My dad used this http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...glB9VJ0BQR2Sbl a couple years ago, same story, took it somewhere and it fell off again, used that stuff and it stuck and never came off again.

Believe it or not, I have to pay my deductable first (which is more expensive than the windshield). Not sure if that is because of the state I live in or my policy.

Freaksavior: thanks for the suggestion, I might give that a shot. Right now I'm thinking of just replacing the mirror without the autodimming mirror to keep the weight down.
